Again i've posted a little bit on here in the last week but more starting threads rather than really saying what I think. People often say I take over the forum when I post on lots of threads or even I ruin them and that's not something I every want to do as I want to read what others think about sport rather than think about ME. With only a few days of the transfer window to go and the stupid idea to play a fixture on the day it's shutting the club need to pick up the pace in getting players in. Listening to PH yesterday he did say he wanted another centre mid and attacker and I was also very pleased to hear him say whilst it's not a priority a full back so he had two Right backs and TWO left backs. Saying that I think we might need a little bit more. For we are short at: LB, CB, CM, RM, ST times 2. Good luck to the two that went to Villa this week. They've gone to a good club and if Barnsley don't go up (I understand it's V unlikely that we get promoted) they somehow go on a run and pick up the avg 2.11 PPG that they'll need. Also be very interesting how each of the players do. Looking forward to the game tomorrow. Should be an interesting one and hopefully we can get the 3 points in whats a massive week for Barnsley Football club
Glad you're willing to listen to other people's opinions. If we don't get promoted its not the end of the world. Like we all say- In Hecky We Trust!
I agree we need a left back, a central midfielder (if not 2) and one striker, but if we don't lose anyone else then I'm comfortable with our options at right wing (Watkins, Hammill, Kent and Scowen) and centre back (Roberts, Macdonald, Jackson, Kpekawa).
GK, Davies, Townsend, Walton RB, Jones, Yiadom LB, White, CB, Roberts, Macdonald, Jackson, Kpekawa, CM, Scowen, James, Mowatt RW Watkins*, Janko LW, Hammill, Kent AM, Moncur, Williams, ST, Bradshaw, Armstrong u23, Cowgill CB, Evans FB, Tuton, Brown, Lee, Mottley Brown, Bird, Kay *Could play another position That's my workings out or whatever and how I see the squad
We have lost Morsy Bree Hourihane and Winnall and brought in Jones James and Mowatt. Maybe two more in before Tuesday I hope plus Yiadom to return soon.
I think what you have said is fair enough... Personally, I'd be happy with another Midfielder(unless Moncur is going to play a orthodox midfield role, rather than as a "10") , and Left Back and another Striker.
I think the only position we can really strengthen that would have a significant effect on our short term future is a striker. We are short of a physical presence and a bit of power. Apart from that I think the squad is now OK. Presumably a few of the fringe players like Cowgill, Tuton and Ash will be sent out on loan, maybe also Lee, if he doesn't disappear to China.
The best part of this post is that you've calculated Villa need 2.11 ppg to get in the play-offs. Can you enlighten us how many points the team each position will finish with in that case?
I'm on again to wonder why anyone responds to your posts. You are as believable a character as Donald Trump is ( not sure I needed that "is" )
I think the main concern is not so much numbers but what will happen to our 'goals for' tally. I'd like to see a statistic as to what percentage of our goals have come from Hourihane/Winnall or an assist from Hourihane. Matty James does sound like he has a good pedigree through, so here's hoping.
I think we'll have targets who we want to bring in. It's particularly difficult in January to bring players in. Hecky spoke at length about wanting a full back and an 'attacker'. So I think they will be the two priorities. He also mentioned how he'd like to put a few Barnsley lads in the mix too. Jacob Brown appears to be the closest to making a breakthrough so I wouldn't be too surprised to see him around the squad, which could mean Payne goes out on loan. I really like Payne and think he's got a lot to offer but it would be good to see him scoring goals regularly in league 2 or 1 if the opportunity is available. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
