PC has been trying to sell the club to a suitable person or persons for some time. There have been no takers. People on here suggesting that we don't need an owner is cloud cuckoo land. Say it happened that The Cryne family walked away, the club would be bust within twelve months; we'd be heading for the East Counties League. No businessman in Barnsley would be willing to put up the necessary bank guarantees that would be necessary. These guarantees would be required after such a takeover, which would necessitate closing the academy, reducing the staff to a Company Secretary and three assistants (as in pre-Anderson days. It should be remembered that this club nearly went to the wall in 1966, when wages were a fraction of what they are today, and we owed a sum less than £100k. The club offered to put an additional 40,000 (£1) shares to the supporters. I understand from a good source that less the 9,000 would have been taken up. That in itself demonstrates the willingness of businesses and supporters in putting money into the club to bail it out if banks threaten closure.
I've been trying to sell my house for years but nobody has bought it yet. I'm gutted too because I tried everything to advertise it was for sale. I put a poster up in my garden shed and scrawled a note on the back of my toilet door but nobody has come asking yet. I can't understand it
