This French guy and Jason Scotland are not the answer to the problem Barnsley Football Club needs recognised goal scorers and a commanding centre back........NOW !!! If that means loan players from Premeirship clubs that cost money........then so be it At the very least it will take just 3 players; 2 strikers and a centre back to give us a chance of get away from relegation........ *************Do not spoil the ship for a ha'porth of tar*************
Like Doncaster Rovers did you mean? My trust is in Flicker. And if we go down, it's Keith Hills fault.
Scotland is a gamble..........but not the type of gamble I'm taking about here The Scotland gamble is one where he could be successful but then again he might not be.......but either way he aint going to cost that much The gamble I'm talking about is paying out 'biggish money' for 2 decent and proven strikers and a commanding centre back in the hope (or gamble) that the money laid out is going to lift the club away from relegation. That is to say.........is the club willing to pay over the odds for just 3 quality players that would give us a much better chance of survival? In my opinion the rest of the team has enough quality to stay in the division.
But we don't have biggish money? I think Jason Scotland is about as proven at this level as we can hope for, and I still think we won't be able to afford him. Think he'll end up jetting off to one of these countries where has been footballers are residing on big money, China, Russia, Turkey, Qatar etc etc.
Give the club a call then and tell them how much of this biggish money you are going to give them. Or do you suggest the club starts taking out biggish loans to buy these players? Sorry, having re-read your post we don't even buy them as you're suggesting loans, so if they don't work out and we go down we won't even have an asset to sell to try to recoup the money spent. Did what happened a few years ago not register with you?
'Did what happened a few years ago not register with you?' Yes it did..................we survived relegation
HI Many clubs have gambled some pay off but for every success their are more failures. Birmingham, Portsmouth, Leeds, Southampton all have got themseves into debt and all have droppped two divisions (I am assuming Birmingham may go down another division this year). Swindon, Luton, Oldham, Bradford City (congratulations on reaching the cup final) all gambled and some have fallen into non-league soccer. We almost went out of existence due to the gamble of maintaining our Premiership place. Let's accept that is better to remain in business at the lower end of the Championship or even relegation is better than the club going out of business.
Relatively speaking Barnsley Football Club has spent next to nowt this season.....players brought in have been more or less from reserve teams or lower division teams. On the whole they have done very well but we need a bit of quality in a couple of areas of the team. Now is the time to do this if we are to escape relegation If we dont then we will be in what some on here call the 'Ale House League' And we are likely to be there for some time And, what affect will this have on the sale of the club?
FFS, you know very well what I am referring to. The time we didn't survive relegation, went into administration and nearly disappeared. You're suggesting that the club spends, to quote you, biggish money on loan players. We don't have biggish money and certainly not to spend on players who don't have an interest in which division we are playing in next season and whom we would not be able to recoup money from by way of a transfer fee when they leave the club. So I can only presume you mean for the club to borrow said biggish money to blow on loan players, who may or may not keep us up. If they do, then whoopedydoo, we're still in the Championship, albeit starting off next season with much less money because we have a biggish loan to pay back to somebody. If the loanees turn out to be rubbish though, and lets face it, most of them have over the past few years, and we go down we still have a biggish loan to pay back, but less money with which to pay it. We don't want to be taking gambles that could lead us back into administration. As I understand it that is why a certain high profile chairman of ours became a high profile ex-chairman of ours once our owner started looking at the figures. You should only gamble with what you can afford to lose and we cannot afford to lose biggish money, unless, of course, the Young Nudger retirement fund can be tapped into and given to the club? Now I would never want to go as far as to call anybody stupid on an internet forum...so I will leave it there!
give flicker the respect he deserves if he thinks scotland is good enough lets sign him after all look at the s--t hill signed
Relative to what? Other clubs in this division? If so, we don't have their budget (with the debt that it carries for some clubs) so relativity is useless here. We need to bring 3 or 4 players in that Flicker thinks are good enough to get in the 1st team, but they need to be affordable.
