Like most people on here I would have liked to see more signings, but they have not materialised, so we have got what we have got.
The Jury is still out on Simon Davey, the first ten games of this season will probably decide his fate.
But for us Barnsley fans it is now time for us all to get behind every player who pulls on the red shirt of Barnsley Fc.
Lets stop abusing Kayode, he showed signs of being a good player but did not score regular enough last term. Equally so, he did score one of the most important goals in Barnsleys history. Everyone one in life deserve a second chance, this his is, also the abuse could be argued, is almost racial.
Brian Howard is still a Barnsley player, and has been Barnsleys best player for the last couple of seasons so lets stop slating him for lack lustre performances in "freindlies" he is abicious and wants to play at a higher level what is wrong with that. Only good performances for us will let him acheive that goal.
I like most you are nervous about the coming season, I think that survial this time will be very difficult, but these are the odds that have always faced a small club like us, but these are odds this club has overcome more times than not, prior to our promotion to the premier league we had been in the 1st division longer than any other side.
Patrick Cryne has given Simon Davey a budget for transfers this season Davey has spent it as best he thought he could. Patrick Cryne without doubt has over the last few years saved this club and I don't see any other Multi Millionaires queueing up to spend there million on us.
So for now lets All get behind OUR TEAM and give our full support to Patrick Cryne, Simon Davey and the full team who are Barnsley FC.
    Come on you REDS

some good points, but don't say the abuse Kayode gets is racial - it makes you sound silly!

    Racial?

I'm in the minority that think he could come good and I want him to have another chance.

But to say its racial abuse is ridiculous. If any striker misses a lot of chances fans become frustrated, not just KO.

Paul Wilkinson I seemed to remember wasn't exactley prolific, yet i never remember getting the level of abuse levelled at K O

I give Kay a lot of support personally - I think he is an asset to our squad.

The abuse he gets on here (and in the stands) is probably due to the fact that he scored about 3 league goals was it all last season. Which, is not good enough for a striker.

He is also not the most technically gifted player, which makes him a target I believe.

kayode will go down in folklore history round these parts, but he's not very good, and any abuse he receives as a result of needing 25 chances to score a goal has never, where i've been sat, been racial!!!

Not really a comparison mate. He scored double figures and set up countless others.

The best comparison from last year would be Istvan. Similar records, no where near the abuse.

How can you compare Wilkinson with KO, Wilkinson had nothing to prove he'd been there and got the t-shirt.

True but wilko played in a very successful team - which made a difference. He also scored more than Kayode. Wilko wasn't particularly popular at the start, he became more accepted when he teamed up with Super John.

What did Ian Wright say after playing at Barnsley was it something like the worst racial abuse he had ever encoutered ?

    Not in the same league..

Wilko actually contributed something to the team, and probably rarely missed sitters.

KO is toss, end off. He's an honest lad but not good enough for this level.
