A couple of months ago, a poster on this forum said that he'd been wishing we'd lose since the 3rd game of our losing streak, just so Lee Johnson would get the sack. There's been a lot of talk of Johnson not knowing what he's doing, that can't be right can it? We've now won 3 in the league on the bounce, or 4 in 5, or 2 defeats in 8. It's a good run of form, in the same way that we had a bad run in form. There must be a reason surrounding the recruitment strategy. I have my own theory, whether it's correct or not is a different matter. But for me, I feel that the targets we're chasing, are players who aren't willing to commit long term to a league one side, meaning the only way we can secure them is to bring them in on loan. The likes of Pearson and Isgrove are at present, league 1 players with the potential to play at a higher level. This for me is highlighted in the players we managed to sign on permanent deals in the summer, Mawson, Roberts, Watkins to name but 3. All came from relatively unfashionable clubs outside of the (English) premier league. One thing we need to be as supporters is patient. We're on a good run. We've kept a clean sheet. The players will come albeit maybe not in the method we would prefer sadly. But slowly we're turning a corner. Credit to everyone involved in putting their faith in Lee, it was a brave move which I hope will pay off. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
I can't imagine ever willing the team to lose in order to serve my ego or to see a manager sacked. Today was a fantastic result, but I 100% stand by the opinion that the transfer policy at the club is a joke and is the cause of our demise. Credit to the players for today but building the team on cheap loans is a road to nowhere.
Think everyone agrees with this, really don't think this is what Johnson wanted or would have come here for. The board deserve the criticism for their stance as does the manager for the winless run. However they do deserve praise when they get things right. The nonsense spouted on this forum this week has been bang out of order though.
Re: so it was you then Would we have lost Pearson if we'd started like this rather than caught a bit of fire later in the season? Who knows? But try before you buy works both ways so we can't totally blame the club. Happy clapper or not- it's actually good to be a super red on the back of a nice little run. Every club has their problems, every club loses games, every club wins games. Well done the Reds today.
yes as your reply seems to infer you are in fact the accused..... if this is not the case then I apologise
Re: yes No idea how you inferred that, but no I'm not. I was attempting to express how absurd such a notion would be. You're a nob!
Agree. I have never wanted Barnsley to lose, but I certainly was wanting Johnson replaced. I am beginning to think I was wrong. I don't think it's surprising that I wanted him replaced. The worst losing run in my time as a Reds fan (as far as I know) left me feeling flatter than I have in 33 years. And almost not caring (but we all secretly care even if we say we don't). I am however pleased to see a small upturn in our form and results. and if it continues I'll be bloody glad to eat my hat, humble pie and have all my previous criticism rammed down my throat. Perhaps LJ is learning. Perhaps fortune is on our side. But long may it continue. We have a bloody talented squad. We for once have a bloody good striker (and I don't care what a striker offers except goals). I really want Johnson to succeed as he does come across genuine and with a plan. And Cryne deserves to have some of his decisions praised. He has invested a lot more than most into this club. lets kick on now. Get Scowen back in, a real general in midfield to pull the strings, and another striker to put pressure on Winall to keep getting better and I'll be happy. Play offs? No chance. But as I'm finding out regularly I know nothing about football and I'm regularly wrong. Hope so again! Well in Barnsley. Well in Winnall. Well in JOHNSON.
