how many players do manchester united and arsenal release from there academys every summer? apsolutley tons but look at the quality theyve knocked out also. you take the good with the bad in these sorts of projects ask alex ferguson.

Academies are always going to release the majority of players that go through it, that's football for you.

Not really producing the goods mate is it.

I reckon they should turn it into some kind of coaching school of excellence. Sort of place where wannabee coaches can "live the dream" and become top managers. On their "year out" we could send these coaches to our sunday league sides to gain "hands on" experience. Hopefully one of our guys could bring back the prestigous scrumpy jack knockout trophy.

Also as we seem to sack managers at least every season we'd have this production line of top quality coaches to come in. Would pay for itself.

Failing that a clown college would be good :)

    but....

how many games did we get out of those players and others that came through the ranks before we let them go?

Austin and Kay alone = 300 first team performances

if we signed every academy player we'd be shagged with a poor team

players who are on loan at Tamworth clearly aren't good enough for a championship club.

players get released from every youth set up in similar numbers. they make way for new youngsters with potential

    and....

if we had no youth setup and someone with the potential to be a Rooney/Ronaldo/Owen etc...etc... played his football
down the road for the Blades or Owls how would we feel having missed out on that talent ?

Seriously i didn't know they did that.

I reckon they should try advertise the fact they do. I'm sure its something a fair few people would be interested in doing.

    Nice one anyhow.

    Its a tedious subject

additional costs above a leaner youth set up are probably less than the revenues generated from a good away attendance at Oakwell.

    mmmm......

    1. It's all gone quiet but the current owners of the land want to sell part of it off.
2.The club do not own any of it so would not benefit
