I can see the sense in it if Hourihane hadn't been confirmed until the end of the season. For once there seems a couple of decent options currently available that seem within the realms of possibility. Warne., Duff, Rob Edwards. As someone else said though, it may all look very different at the end of the season.

Duff, Warne or Edwards will not be available in the summer god knows who will finish up with.

Would love to see Stendel back, but think he already said no last time

No one in their right mind would take the job working under the current board and the constraints that come with it. As been mentioned numerous times, I think it’ll be some unknown manager from abroad.

It’s yet another mistake in the long line of many mistakes made by this board.

we have an opportunity here to move quickly and get a decent manager with decent experience at this level and we are deciding to wait.

if past recruitment processes or anything to go by it will be long and drawn out and shambolic, resulting in us making a poor appointment.

We have an opportunity to give the new manager a head start and not playing catch up in pre season

Unless we make a decent appointment with a track record (I’m hoping for Duff) I won’t be renewing three season tickets.

there’s been endless poor decisions made by the board unfortunately and if the same happens again I can no longer support it

I think they're all likely to be available, at least on paper. Taking a job now would probably affect their compensation. However, the powers that be need to start working now on persuading someone of that calibre to join us as soon as the close season starts. Whether they have the competence to do that is a very different question.

On the flip side Duff might want to lick his wounds before summer.

Maybe Edwards or Warne would be better options with being out a bit longer.

He might mate. But it’s their job to persuade him to join now.

that’s the problem, they seem lacking in capability

Ignore the the drunken comments lol. But yeah I agree that he/Stendal has done nothing since then, when it comes to him getting the job.

    Or Ian Evatt....Bet he applies.

The timing is bonkers. It makes me believe something has been said that our thin skinned board didn't like or he'd have been let go last weekend, not after training them all week.

I agree, but they won't fund that calibre of appointment who'd want a degree of autonomy.
Warne already being touted for Huddersfield, personally like to see Ryan Lowe thought he did an excellent job at Plymouth building a solid foundation for Schumacher.

Why though? Duff is another manager who has done nothing since leaving ( under a very dark cloud) and the dog botherers wanted him out big time due to sub standard performances.

I think he’s an excellent manager mate. His teams are solid , work hard and appear to be given clear and simple instructions.

I think he’s a good fit for the Club in terms of work ethic, background etc.

I think he’s unlikely to leave quickly if he does well which would give us stability, on the basis that it didn’t work out well last time.

he knows the league, he knows a lot of the players. I think he made our last team greater than the sum of its parts.

his sacking at Huddersfield was outrageous imho. He had them top 6 for most the season with horrendous injuries. Swansea was never a good fit.

for me there’s many positives and very few negatives.

I’d be getting the deal done this week, but they won’t. They’ll sit on it and he will go elsewhere.

As if they'd work under this regime :D. People are going to get a big shock about the calibre of head coach we go for. Wonder if anyone in the northern counties league fancies working under Somarz.

Warne likely won’t take it - he’ll have better offers.

Edwards - not built a team yet has he? Just inherited a team already built and put together by Jones. I like him, and he’s decent, but not sure he fits our position.

Conor seems a sensible choice until the eos. If he turns it round, he’ll likely get the job. Which is fine by me, if not, we’ll look elsewhere.

The likes of Edwards, Duff, Evatt and Warne will still be getting paid. If they take another job, that cash is forfeited. Something along those lines unless it’s changed in the last eight months.

So they’ve no reason to rush into anything.

You’d imagine the club will be using the next few months to speak to candidates of interest. Whether that’s any of the above, we’ll have to see.

    I think it’s Conor’s to lose.

But whoever gets it, I hope they’re given more freedom moving forward. Let them work with their own staff, let them utilise the tactics they’re known for and allow them proper input into recruitment. Because as much as I lost faith in Clarke, it’s laughable that on deadline day we were presented with a kid from Corsica. There’s just no way he was involved in that. Or the American randomer who I’ve already forgot.
