Talking to a few before the game & I said if we could play like we did against Everton week in week out then we'll walk this league, unfortunately we (& probably most other clubs in the country) simply can't perform at that tempo too often & that definitely told today. Properly back down to earth with a bump! Looking at it another way though - if we play like we did today week in week out we'll be definite candidates for relegation. That obviously won't happen either, we've got a squad of good young players, a couple of additions by the deadline & we'll be fine! COYR!
I agree, sometimes i think players cheat the manager and fans and put a shift in when they feel like it and its not acceptable.
They also weren't chasing a PL side around for those 120 mins on Wednesday. I don't expect some to understand/accept that though.
Not an excuse, there isn't an excuse why a professional athlete can't perform twice in a week if you ask me, just stating fact. Rochdale played 90 minutes on Tuesday night, we played 120 high octane minutes on Wednesday night though & you could see some of the lads were dead on their feet. Unfortunately 3 of our best players were on the bench & if not due to fatigue then why?
... and probably didn't do anywhere near the amount of high tempo chasing that we did against a Premier League team. Completely incomparable.
Have you watched players during a game, they spend more time just standing still doing nothing than running around
