I'm on Tiscali and I've never had a problem. In fact, the price keeps coming down and the speed keeps going up.
So am I as it happens You are lucky you have never had a problem - their call centre in India is the stuff of nightmares if your problem is with broadband. (I had a good experience when the phone line died though - probably becasue that was a clear fault and the card told the girl what to do) They are fine if nothing goes wrong and as you say cheap - speed drops in the evenings though. They probably are the best of the 8 listed but its a bit of a limited survey. Bit like saying Barnsley are the best side in the football league... Based on a survey of Barnsley Huddersfield Milton Keynes Leeds United Millwall Peterborough Swansea and Luton. There are certainly several ISP's that have similar pricing but better download speeds and customer satisfaction ratings that were not included in the 8 that Power surveyed
it can be a bit of a lotto tho' I mean they all have their moments, and I am sure most can tell you horror stories as well as joyous ones on most servers...so many variables IMHO.type of cables in area ,distance to exchange, your equipment the list can go on...I have tiscali at my mothers place and orange down here...had no trouble with either on the whole... both suffer from the dreaded Calcutta Call Centers..its not racist its just plain that our accents and dialects make it bloody hard at times.That and me being a ******...before anyone else gets it in.
I've heard that sorting problems with Tiscali is a bit of a nightmare However, I've been with them years now and I've never had the need to call them. Maybe I'm one of the lucky ones.
I was with them for about 3 years. Never had a problem. Switched for the package that Sky were offering.
Absolutely crazy! My dad had no end of trouble with them. First he lost connection with them, and couldn't get onto broadband. So they sent him a new modem, which when istalled worked fine - for a few days. Then he started to lose connection again. He had to lift his telephone handset and wait for the dial tone a few times before the connection would come back. When he called the ***** customer services they told him to uninstall the modem, then reinstall it. He did that and it worked. But when he came to boot up again, the same problem occurred. So as a temporary measure, everytime he wanted to go on the net he had to uninstall the modem, and then reinstall it. He then totally lost connection for 2 weeks. So he rang them up to get his MAC code as he was going to take his custom elsewhere. They said they would send it to him - he never received it. So he cancelled his direct debit to force them into action - so they threatened to take him to court. He once waited 9 days for them to respond to an email about his loss of service! So Tiscali passed his case onto a debt management company. He then phoned the debt management company to explain the whole situation, and the woman was really sympathetic and said (not in as many words) that no end of people have gone through them with this type of problem, and that proved that Tiscali were a bag of *****. My dad then phoned Tiscali back up, explained the situation AGAIN to another customer service woman, but he actually got success from her. She apologised for the entire inconvenience, and wiped the debt from his account. No more was heard from them again. Good riddance to the ***** that is Tiscali, I will never go near them. Good luck to those of you though who have yet to have a problem with them. You'll need it.
Exactly same with us, and then they had the cheek to try and charge us fora month when we had already cancelled there service and not used it.</p> There up there with AOL as *****.</p>
