Just been reading that the US are blocking a british submersible from joining the search/rescue mission for the Titan sub that has gone missing in the North Atlantic. The British sub can hit depths of 5000m and is the only one in the world apparently with winching capability and can send signals back to the surface. Americans are insisting they will use a US one capable of 3000m but with no idea how to rescue the sub. All seems rather odd as we normally co-operate on things like this. Is there more to it than meets the eye maybe? For instance a cover up of a US military sub engaging it by mistake? Just my thoughts.
I think whilst there’s still a chance they’ll be traced and saved it best not to go to town on conspiracy theories but if it true they’ve refused the assistance it is somewhat bizarre and very questionable at best. Why wouldn’t you go belt and braces and accept any help available? They probably have two days max realistically. If what you said at the end is true I doubt we’d ever find out, however.
They'd only get that if they succeed. Experts reckon only a 1% chance. But to refuse the offer of help with better equipment is Bizzare. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/world-n...bmarine-titan-titanic-rescue-mission-blocked/
Also the Titanic lays in international waters so, I'd say send em in anyway, there are British nationals involved.
When stuff like this happens I'd suggest to look who's on board..then ask. what do others have to gain ie the yanks and their dodgy agencies by their disappearance or are they /have something to hide ...usually more to it than meets the eye...why refuse help unless your covering something up or don't want anything found until its too late ...
The Russians refused help when the kursk went down in the baltic sea, didn't end well for the sailors, not saying we could save them but you'd like to think they'd accept any help
I was in the Navy in 1986 (Hms Invincible) and bound for the west indies and the states for a few months. The space shuttle blew up over the sea.... we were near and offered our services but were told rhey didn't need us. Again at the time we probably had better professionals but not better kit to deal with it. I think in summary the Americans like to keep things in house.
I can think of another occasion, quite recently, they told UK to stuff their help. Similar situation, search & rescue. Maybe, they’re not as technically superior as they like to make out..
Think it’s pathetic Macho/pride, kind of thing I expect from the Chinese and Russians, but guess the Americans are no better - “we know best” don’t want to portray any weakness.
All well and good, but will they then accept the consequences when it doesn't go to plan? Very weird.
