On entering the ground today, I had my bag searched, and a £25 bottle of perfume confiscated. The steward cited the "no glass rule". Aside from the fact that I'm a 46 year old woman, taking a child into the game; even if I was inclined to throw anything at anyone in a football ground, I really wouldn't use a £25 bottle of perfume. Absolutely no common sense. And no, I didn't get it back. There'll be a sweet smelling steward somewhere in Doncaster tonight.
To be fair, no glass is no glass. As much as you're absolutely normal, that might not be the case of every 46 year old woman entering the ground on a matchday. No different to turning up at the airport with an aftershave over 100ml and having to ditch it, despite being no risk whatsoever to the security of the plane. This example really resonates with me as it's happened three or four times and I still never learn .....
so the op wants to be treated differently because she is a woman? are these rules just made for men? Sexual equality never exists for women imo....unless they want it to that is.....cue the pc brigade having a go. hope this helps
why the hell do you have a £25 bottle of perfume surely a can of Jeyes fluid would be better for you 'sweaty Betty' shall I run and hide now
I can understand why they took it from you but surely they have to return an item of value at the end of the game? Seriously even prisoners get their personal items returned at the end of their sentence.
I think the difference legally speaking is that prisoners have to hand over their items while fired was given a choice of keeping her items and not entering the stadium or handing over ownership of them and entering
Correct. As a law abiding citizen, who has never taken anything out of my handbag, to throw it at anyone; I was offered the choice of going back to my car, a 20 minute walk away, or to hand over the offending item. A criminal could have just had it stored and returned. They did however, allow me to keep several pound coins, a mobile phone, and a mobile battery charger. Funnily enough, I chose not to throw any of those items at anyone.
I don't think that's a reason not to return an item of value. I'm no legal eagle but maybe somebody on here can advise if you have a legal right to have goods returned.
What this underlines is that the minority of morons who go to football spoil it for the majority. I reckon almost everyone who posts on here could be trusted not to throw anything at a game if they were allowed to enter a stadium without being searched first.
I don't have a problem with them taking it off you. Far fetched I know but for all they know it could be filled with water. However there should be a way of you getting it back after the game
