    Cheers for posting link Kev.
Went on loads of these miners Demonstrations as we used to call them as a kid wi mi dad and as an adult wi mi mates and family.
They used to hold the Yorkshire one every year by the Yorks NUM one year Barnsley next Donny then Rotherham and then Wakefield as far as I remember.
Dave seemed to think this was a nationally organised one as there were banners from differerent Areas Scotland etc.it could well be the case but without consulting a book about this subject and history (bought from Chronic offices years ago ) I couldn't say but the Yorks NUM used to invite representatives from all the other coalfields allong with a banner from their area.
This was also the case with the Durham miners Gala which is still going and is on my to do list (bucket).
    Great memories.

Thanks, kev and Ruthyn. And dave.

My dad, now sadly dead, was a shot-firer and deputy at Woolley, and I'm sure would have liked to have seen this.

    Sure, Moose.

My dad's name is (was) John Irving Mason, known as Irving. Born and bred (and died) in Mapplewell. Worked at Woolley in the 1960's. His father and 2 brothers were also miners.

Thanks, Moose. I'll ask my uncle (electrician at Woolley until miner's strike) if he knows them.
