To all the so called "Reds fans"....

There has been much said on this board about Simon Davey and Gordon Shepherd over the past few months, most of it bad and some of it personal...

Some so called "fans" who post on here do not realise what it means to be part of a team. A "team" wins together.. loses together.. gets promoted together.. and gets relegated together... They stick together no matter what, thats what being in a team means.

By "team" i don't just mean the 11 lads out on the pitch, I include the Manager, backroom staff, directors, ground staff, tea lady and the "FANS...

Anyone who believes SD and GS don't want the best for the Reds and don't work their backsides off aren't part of our "team"...

We don't support the Reds for glory, we support them because we are part of them, we have roots in the town, its close to our hearts... we supported them in the old 4th division and in the Premiership... Of course we want to see them winning and playing attacking football but we ought to be realistic and know that thats not really going to happen week in week out.

Fair weather fans would be better off taking a drive over Woodhead every other week and sitting with the other 76000 and leave our "team" to us who want to be part of it (through thick or thin).. I like SD for no other reason than he's part of our "team" and whoever follows him will also get my support no matter what.

A great win today for my "team" and a big thankyou to everyone involved. This means YOU!!! I hope.

    Cheers

Agree, to a certain extent - despite my disappointment about him getting the job I've still supported Davey simply because he's the Red's manager.

However, I'm not sure how the disgraceful treatment, slander and back-stabbing meted out to Andy Ritchie (which is the reason a lot of us have offered our criticism of the board and Shepherd in particular) fits in with your concept of "team"? Nor the people who called for Ritchie's head and spewed vitriol towards him at every opportunity and yet have the gall to encourage the rest of us to now "get behind the team". (I'm not suggesting you're one of these people, by the way.)

I write this 'cos I've been critical of some the goings on at Oakwell recently and I'm not sure I like being described as a "fan" simply 'cos of a perfectly valid opinion...

Ok I tend to agree with most of what you are saying, but Where was the TEAM LOYALTY when things were going wrong for Ritchie, I hope with all my heart that we stay up and I will always support Barnsley, but when the leaders of this "team" start to have a go at the fans it gives the wrong impression. The Fans are the ones that PAY to go to Oakwell and the away matches, we dont get paid for going, so the lack of respect that has been shown towards us this season by Shepherd etc. is in my view dispicable.
The Club is being run in a shambolic way in evry department, except they are bringing the books in to line.
Bottom Dollar is if any other company gave the same standard of service and customer relations that Barnsley FC, have done this year, no-one in their right mind would still shop with them.
So I have had my say and I believe that everyone is entitled to theirs and should not be castigated over it.
I am as guilty of this in the past as anyone.

I dont know where I stand now

Ive been part of many winning and losing teams at football and snooker.

Ive also slated Davey and Shepherd. I would have liked to have seen Shepherd trying to fill the ground yesterday by both issuing a rallying call and putting on some special offers to entice fans or letting kids in for free. I would also like to see him provide subsidised or free transport to Southend. He has done nothing but kept quiet.

By the same token Ive berated fans who threaten to stay away.

    Where do I stand now?

another nob who thinks he can say who is or isn't a fan.

By the way, anyone who says anything as stupid as 'barnsley can do without' any certain kind of fans (fair weather or otherwise) needs a kick up the arse.

I will give BFC my support no matter who the manager is, what division we are in or what is happening in the boardroom. I go to Oakwell to support the team as they are representing Barnsley and that means that I am representing Barnsley. I never boo or abuse anybody in the ground in the belief that it does no good and my energy is better spent singing as loud as I can to get behind them. But I also believe in freedom of speech. If somebody else wants to berate a player or the manager that is up to them. It doesnt make them less of a fan. People only scream and shout because they care.
