Clearly far too many, and I know you were just stating facts rather than apportioning blame, but there really isn't much we could have done about adding to the tally this time around, unless we just don't bother with a manager any more. Actually, I get the feeling that's what the board would prefer.
If true I would like to thank Lee Johnson for making the correct and honourable decision. The job was clearly too much for him. Hopefully now he appears to have stepped back to a smaller club things will work out for him
Having a manager taken from us feels strange, all I've ever known is us sacking them. It's the fact that we stuck by him during that shocking run when I'm pretty sure every other club would've got rid that's frustrating. Oh well.
Wait till he starts telling Bristol fans it takes three transfer windows to build a squad. If he's still there again by then.
Danny Wilson will have been the last one I suppose when he was either poached or resigned so he could take the Wednesday job. Since then (I think) it's been sackings all the way. Wonder how much that has cost the club?
Remember Cryne refusing Andy Ritchie to talk over the Wednesday job then ending up sacking him a few months later.
Let's not get all Oldham about it, lads. Calling him names and that. He's taking what he perceives to be a more appealing job, and I wish him all the luck in the world with it because he'll ******* need it. We move on. Nothing much has changed. Good luck to Hecky tomorrow. You Reds.
if he has gone then I wish him the shittest of luck in the world and I hope he's relegated them in April. If we had been having a decent season and we were sitting the play offs and not had that awful run then l would wish him well, but the loyalty shown by Cryne during that run and to be sh*t on like this is the lowest of the low. I hope he's struggling for a football league club in the summer. Bristol City on the other hand have never won a major trophy in their entire history, a couple of league cup semi finals in the 70's and 80's and a top flight runner up when Henry VIII presented them with their runners up medals. In their ensuing European campaign 24 Bristol City supporters were deported for hooliganism travelling to their away leg, they were caught throwing the cannons overboard. B@stards. You Reds.
I agree - that's going to be one hell of a job. Wouldn't be surprised to see him gone by the summer, but I suppose he's made a judgement that it's worth the risk. It'll be an interesting one to keep an eye on. It'll be interesting to see what we do now. If we get a halfway convincing win tomorrow I wouldn't be surprised if we decide to keep things as they are for the rest of the season. It's the most sensible option for me too.
Which is why you can't blame him for taking the opportunity. Another bad run and he could have found himself unemployable. Until clubs stop rotating door policies managers can't be blamed for taking the chances when they come up.
If true we move on . Not saying its gonna be straight forward by any means but if the strategy PC has adopted is as workabke as it sounds it should be fairly painless in that we won't need the disruption to other depts we've had previously by having to sack people then pay other clubs compensation to bring in new guys preferences. If it does work it could be the strategy that launches the club to a sustainable campaign in the championship IMO.
One of the nastiest away-day experiences to be had in the football league. Anyone with an emotional attachment to that *****-oil, has my utmost sympathy.
You'll never hear me abusing him or calling him stupid names. He came here as a rookie manager and will leave a better man for the experiences that he has had here. He made mistakes but he's not alone in that. All football club managers/coaches/directors do the same thing, at all levels. It's been interesting having him here and there can't be many more lucid speakers in the football world. I appreciate all that he has done for us and, if he goes, I wish him well. If he stays, I wish him the same.
