Don't worry about any of the things written in the press - the vast majority of Ukrainians will give you a welcome which completely and utterly puts to shame the indifferent way we treat foreigners in the UK. Yes, there are some idiots and some shysters who might try to rip you off, but no more than anywhere else. The difference in Ukraine and other such countries is that sadly they are allowed to get away with it by the authorities. Will it be as comfortable as a tournament held in Germany or France by way of facilities, infrastructure etc? Definitely not, but for those who are braving it, it will be one hell of an experience in every way. You'll be glad that you decided to come. Bright Red (and any other nutters who will be hiring a car in Ukraine!!) - I'll be arriving tomorrow and will get a local SIM card as soon as I arrive, PM me if you want my number. The traffic police are total numpties in general, and although they usually leave foreigners well alone, if they decide to be a pain in the arse and you don't have a Russian speaker with you, it can get a bit hairy.
