...Donny were about as poor as I've ever seen at Oakwell in the last ten years but they kept it very tight, just as we would no doubt try and do in a similar situation away from home - although we'd always have a few decent attempts. The so-called 'bigger' teams play a much more open game when playing us which definitely suits us, and has brought us a lot of success in the past, just not really this season. It's just worrying that in the more open games we have managed to score a few, but conceded too many as well. If what we saw from the opposition today is a marker of the standard at the bottom of the Championship then I don't think we'll have any problem staying up, the time wasting tactics they employed so long from the end of the game is something you'd expect from a non-league side at a Premier League ground in the FA Cup, absolutely pathetic way to play, I thought football was supposed to be entertaining? I would not be happy with that as a Donny fan at all. Definitely not going to jump on the back of Flitcroft or any of the players after that though, it was just one of those days.
We struggled today because we had a midfield consisting of 3 players who offer little or nothing in an attacking sense. Very frustrating and a salutary lesson for all the Mellis haters.
Tactics and formation along with pi55 poor finishing cost us today, just as they have been costing us all season.
