.....that we still need players who run with the ball..... just like last season.

I know it was a friendly (did we not put 5 past Wednesday one year?).

But Mansfield were more threatening than us. Looked to have more nous.

Was a bit niggling - yer know.

We desperately need a player or two in the mould of O'Sullivan or Williams. Getting them two back would be ideal.

Totally agree. Too much east to west football today. The pace and closing down was not good enough. I like lees "beesround a honey pot" analogy from last season but saw none of that today.
More pressing needed, faster pace and more incisive passing. However there is some talent in that group and with the right coaching and chemistry we can build some momentum and move forward.
    Mawson was awesome. Awesome mawson.

Ps if we could get o'Sullivan and Williams we would be proper contenders.

    Yeah need we do.

    Maybe Watkins (?) is one.

Otherwise it will be lower reaches of this league.

Bree and Juddy are not gonna do it for us.

Devaney mesmerised many a defender.. but when they recovered they found the ball still in front of them, with Devaney still there, so no harm done.

    He rarely beat a defender.

Some of his crosses were historic, more by virtue of the efforts made by those in the box.

His goals one night in Plymouth (?) were worth a statue in the club car park though

Eh! If he doesn't cross them, how do they score.or are you saying they were bad crosses, made good by goal Scorers? Bizarre.

So long as he had them back-peddling and creating space for others I think that's job done sometimes.

I am saying that, like Foster for example at Liverpool, some crosses need more than a bit of effort to be made by those who scored.

Devaney put the ball in, but not on the scorer's head.

    Anyone can cross a ball.

Some, like Beckham, can often put it on the head of the bloke in the box.

And yes - some crosses are made good by what the bloke does in the box.

    Bizarre

Both those crosses were perfection. Both good headers too but that can't take away from the quality of the cross.

I don't think we've much chance of getting JO'S but if we want him we could get Williams. Come on Ben make it happen.

Never mind all that - check out Devaney's facebook profile picture. He's clearly still in excellent shape ;)I'm not washing my arm I had around him again after getting a picture taken with him this afternoon.
