I've not been to the game today but it's pretty obvious what's happened. When a manager is doing badly & deservedly gets the sack or leaves you often get a positive reaction from the team like QPR up at Sunderland in the week. What it sounds like the 269 Reds fans have seen today is a bunch of lads that are sulking due to the unfair sacking of a manager who under the circumstances was doing a decent job. Most of the squad are lower leagues, conference & academy lads. They're probably as baffled as us as to why a managers been sacked when they were as close to the play offs as the drop zone, the star striker had been missing for the past 3 months whilst most of them are in there first season at this level. So yes, today was unacceptable & I feel sorry for anyone that's gone down there but any frustration should be aimed at the board & not the players. It's also unfair on Burton & Heckinbottom but I don't think they were realistic contenders for the manager's job so hopefully they can go back to doing a good job with the academy.
I take it that they weren't sulking in the first half then when they dominated and should have been winning. Sorry mate but your argument does not hold water. By the way I was neither in the in or out camp re Danny.
The players are paid to do a job. They've been doing it badly for months. No excuses. It's their fault.
I don't believe the players are blameless but the board are the ones that have clearly managed to upset a squad of players needlessly when the majority of fans were behind what Wilson was trying to do
They must have upset them before the season started then because apart from a small hand full of games we've been awful
Possibly so, I have no idea what's gone off behind the scenes. Still no excuse for weekly ineptitude of schoolboy proportions. How many times do you hear footballers come on radio and say "we're all professionals" ? This lot look like they are playing at it without a care in the world. If they are less able than the opposition, that's fine. Inability to pass, control, or tackle at this level is just inexcusable.
Disagree. Who in our squad are the proven players who should take the league by storm? Only Cranie & Ramage have consistently played at a higher level with Turnbull & Nyatanga having spells higher up. The rest of them are lower league & academy with a couple of disappointments in Treacy & Lita. We were pretty much where we should be. Performances weren't awful, they were inconsistent which is pretty much what I expected from a young, inexperienced team who's top scorer had been out injured for the past 3 months
I don't think that's true. The only hammering's other than today were Swindon & MK Dons (what I can remember) & both of them are very good league one sides. Today is the first time I can remember us giving in & heads dropping this season. Even when MK Dons battered us we kept trying & pulled 3 back before the end
The lower league and academy lads have a better attitude and applied themselves better than the so called proffesionals In fact I would go so far as to say without their attitude and application we would have capitulated in far more games than we have imo
I don't think the senior pro's that played today have let themselves down much before today. I do think Jennings, Treacy & Lita have been an absolute disgrace though.
