Sell on clause for Mawson similar to Stones'. McBurnie loan deal very close but has been on hold since the news of Llorente breaking his arm. Interest in Potts has cooled and exploring other options. Interest in Fletcher if West Ham make him available for loan and GG confident he would come to us due to his connection with the club. Exploring the foreign market but it takes more time than UK shopping.
I'd be over the moon if we got Fletcher back! I wonder if this was a clever move by Gg and Hecky: they've seen how reds fans bombarded Izzy with messages until he came back, so by suggesting that Fletcher is a possibility it'll get fans on twitter persuading him too Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Unless the two clubs can come to an acceptable agreement about how to carve up Ashley's wages, no amount of tweeting will get him here unfortunately!
Reading the actual quotes Fletcher looks a mile off to me. Basically we don't know if he's even available and if he is there will be competition from other clubs: "Ashley Fletcher is on our list but we don't know whether we can sign him yet. West Ham need to decide if they will let him go or keep him for next season." "I am sure, if he is available for loan, a lot of Championship clubs would want to sign him but he has a connection with Barnsley and that is something we would definitely look at if we could"
Well, what I've read into that is that Fletcher is already on the bus from Victoria Coach Station to Barnsley. Suitcases in the boot, ready to train on his own until the rest get back from Hungary. The spirit of Neil Shipperly is guiding him.
Obviously. Just saying if he was available for loan the fans begging him to come back might just remind him what he's been missing. Obviously that would be way down the list of factors in his decision Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I reckon for Fletcher himself, knowing how much he's loved here will definitely carry a lot of weight. However, I don't reckon he'd be willing to take much of a pay-cut. I don't think he'll be on megabucks by PL standards though. I'm guessing at £15k, £20 absolute tops, so I'm sure a deal can be done with us contributing 30%-40%. If those are the figures (which incidentally I've plucked out of thin air), then a deal is within the realms of feasibility, at least.
If West Ham want him to play games for them in the future, I don't think they'll want a contribution to his salary.
What makes you say that? Genuinely curious, as I'm not entirely sure how these things work. Matty James - I'm assuming we didn't have to contribute anything as we were doing Leicester and the player a favour, as much as they were to us. However, a season-long loan for a player who would be expected to be an integral part of the borrowing club's team is a little different. Unless of course they want to put him in the shop window, hoping that Aston Villa or Sheffield Wednesday stump up £6 million for him in January.
I believe that when a premier league club wants a player to develop by playing matches, they don't want a contribution to his salary. If the player agitates for a move to get game time then they'll want to cover their outlay. So it depends on the value the loaning club sees in game time/development versus potential loss of the services of a player.
If West Ham decided that loaning him to us is the best thing for Fletcher (their asset), I think they'd try and work out a deal whereby we contribute the most that we canto his wages. Maybe we'd pay him £5k, them the rest. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
