We really have to defend these set pieces..

Second half we could have taken the game. One cleared off the line, Stan Offside very marginally (It looked)

Got nothing from Mr G Laws but then we never do.

Where was Christiensen afer scoring a hat trick in the reserves?

Wolves were not that great (but go up to 5th is it?) and in the second hald we could have had them by the scruff of the neck.

We simply cannot defend set pieces, neither can we take them effectively.

In my opinion, there wasn't too much to choooe between the 2 teams today, which I think is a massive improvement on last season..

Our lads were really up for it, especially in the second half, the sad thing is that the Wolves goal came, against the run of play when we were really running them ragged.

I did not expect owt out of this game and have therefore come away positive as , if we can threaten one of the best defensive teams in the Championship and run them ragged in spells then we must have a chance to progress..surely

Muller pulled off some crucial saves when it mattered, once again.

Foster was neat and tidy and Souza became immense as the game progressed

It was evident again that we need a midfielder aka Da Silva who will play, to allow Howard to get forward ,and create chances and score.

    This is not happening currently.

Mackem received little, if any service and Howard should have passed when Mackem was in the box in a scoring position, instead, he passed to Ferencij - that could be habit, but Mackem is beginning to get seriously frustrated. He worked hard today held the ball up well and brought others into play but he himself received very little service today.

JCR was his usual self, threatening but sometimes failing to beat his man.Devaney worked hard but they had done their homework on him and whenever he received the ball there were at least 2/3 men on him.

Defence in second half played well.

Ricketts came on and looked lively but initially played for a free kick outside the box, to which he recieved short shrift from the Ref - lucky not to be booked.

I felt we deserved a point at least on our second half showing, but not to be, howeer , lots of positives.

    YooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooReds

    thanks Tina

that summary has weight because I have seen that you tell it like it is (good or bad)

you say we are missing a da Silva type midfielder, what about Mostto in that role, maybe he is not a goal machine yet but has a good engine, skilful on the ball etc - worth a try?

possibly, even I have my doubts about my ability to pick a team because in my team, we'd need seven across midfield, plus two in attack and four in defence

but we have some (reportedly) skilful players in the squad and, from what I have seen and what I have read about yesterdays match we have a need to put some spark into the midfield

some are saying to bring another da Silva type player in in January, I advocate trying members of the existing squad in the midfield rather than shuffling the same names and hoping it comes good

Mostto is probably a bit extreme as a holding midfielder, Werling could be an option but my point is that for any number of reasons the midfield is not fufilling its role, lwe have a squad, lets try something different

What about trying Reidy back in midfield i like Togwell and all the stuff he does but its clear that he does not compliment Howards style of play failing that go beggingforAnderson to come back as he's never going to play for Everton.

    thats what I mean

try something different rather than shuffling the same pack

if Howard is trying to cover every blade of grass as well as being captain, he's going to become less effective as an attacker

give Reid a go to cover for Howard's attacking moves (although we may then have two midfielders who are unable to find a Red shirt)

Is Reid any better than Togwell at distributing?

He's also not as quick or mobile or energetic as Togwell.

Im not saying somebody instead of somebody else

and I did say - (although we may then have two midfielders who are unable to find a Red shirt)

and for what its worth, I think Togwell should be in because he does the dirty stuff for us that every team needs

I meant that if the midfield needs a spark - either defensively or going forward - we may already have the players in the squad to try different permutations other than the usual suspects
