right then not good team looks appalling in my opinion colgan = one of best players did oright made a few decent saves 7/10 kozluk = so so. looked alright i guess 6/10 reid = beaten in the air a lot by kyle, as was nyatanga 5/10 nyatanga = poor, beaten every time by kyle in the air, basically poor 4/10 souza = one of best players also good defender poor distributor of the ball 7/10 devaney = not involved enough 5/10 johnson = commited in tackles, too slow, poor positional sense 5/10 howard = not involved either a great deal, had a few shots 6/10 ricketts = look okay but needs to be involved a great deal more and needs more end product 5/10 mostto = not strong enough, looks like he could be a threat but needs to do more! a lot more! 5/10 ferenczi = did well, won majority of balls in air, one of best players 7/10 on todays performance and game at wigan, i dont see us staying up im sorry to say
Kozluk & Souza If they were so good, how did Coventry get so many crosses in? Kozluk lost his man for the first goal.... I'm hoping today's performance / result is more down to a lack of organisation. Hopefully, the players did not do themselves justice ...
Souza is a centre back Quite why Davey insists on playing him on the left I have no idea. And Werling (ooh look! A LEFT BACK) was sitting on the bench. Mentalism.
Kozluk has a good reputation as a defender No reason to call that into question - yet he got burned several times today (and lost his man for the opening goal). This is from a player who was good enough to hold down a regular place for Sheffield United (both in the premiership and championship). What gives?
RE: Souza is a centre back Souza is obviously a centre back as he at least challenged, and won a majority in the air, against kyle nyatanga a big problem the crosses were comin in from deep also apart from the best pace of julian gray and overlaping of borrowdale doubled up on kozluk still not good enough hopefully bruma will be better???? (chinny)
Completely disagree with most of that, thought Kozluk was shocking today dont remember him making more then one tackle on their winger, thought Johnson had a decent game particularly in the first half. How on earth can you give Ferenczi a 7 he was awful, any flick ons that he did manage to win went either nowhere near a team mate or straight up in the air and every time a throughball was played to him he was ofside! Also it was a poor decision in my opinion for davey to play Ferenczi and Odejayi in the same team as they are both very similar players and if Mossto had been left on then he could have got a goal as Odejayi provided some good lay offs unlike the balls he recieved in the first half.
Agree Mosto should have stayed on and Stan taken off Odejayi would have probably given a better service to him.
My ratings for what they are worth Colgan 6 - couple of decent saves but rooted to his line still. Couldnt do much about any of the goals. Kozluk 5 - not a great debut but he has pedigree so still confident in him. Reid 3 - got to be dropped. Kyle was his man on set pieces and he was out of his depth. Nyatanga 5 - not a good day for him. Souza 6 - not a FB by any means but he tried his hardest and was by no means our worst performer. Has to play CB. Devaney 3 - worked back well in 1st half but offered nothing in attack and disappeared in 2nd half. Johnson 6 - looked tidy and industrious, nothing more, faded after half time. Howard 6 - great penalty, created a few things and got forward well in 1st half but not really in game in 2nd. Ricketts 6 - undoubted ability but needs to find some confidence from somewhere (and start enjoying himself). Ferenczi 5 - cant question his work rate but he doesnt win enough headers and struggles to hold the ball up. Where is the Stan that first joined us? Mostto 5 - he shows flashes of being a good player and makes some excellent runs but he just isn't getting the type of service that he needs. Odejayi 7 - only player today who looked like he could cause Coventry some real problems. Simon he has got to start. Togwell 5 - unfair to mark somebody down when they dont get much time but his touch was sloppy at times. Werling 5 - he is not a LB, he can't defend simple as that, spends more time on the pitch than on his feet. He can be a left midfield option but only that, good job he is only on loan. Overall: was reasonably pleased at half time. Felt they should have been down to 10 men and was thinking we could have been 2-1 up had Stan stuck that header away. But then the 2nd half began. It was shocking stuff. Put that performance into last season and it still would stand out as one of our poorer games.
well to be honest like, if you think johnson is a good player, then you must have been watching two completely different games against wigan and today kozluk was poor tho i guess
The most worrying thing about today was how quickly their heads went down after Coventry scored their second goal.

RE: werling only played 15 mins and already condemned Seen him play against Rovrum and Wigan and he has looked exactly the same in all the games. He is good going forward but cant defend for toffee. Wing back would be his natural position.
The ******

So much looking forward to today and a bit deflated now but I'm not going to make too many negative judgements about the new guys until I've seen a bit more. I actually thought we did quite well in the first half and god knows how it wasn't a red card for the penalty - deliberate handball and denying a clear goalscoring opportunity, should have been two! Johnson surprised me and was the main reason behind the improvement after they scored, Odejayi looked good when he came on and I thought Souza was the best of the defenders even playing out of position. The main problem for me was that the heads all went down together after the second goal. This highlights one of the main weaknesses for me, leadership, and Paul Reid just isn't a leader, either naturally, or by example. Experienced defender and leader to play with Lewin or Dennis, still needed. Two other glaring things to work on - our crossing was abysmal, as was our defending of set pieces. As an ex-keeper, I usually stay neutral on the Colgan issue. There is no doubt that he is a good shotstopper but I thought he was poor today in that too many times the ball was dropped into the six yard box and he was nowhere to be seen. Fair enough if crosses to the penalty spot aren't dealt with properly - that's the defence's job, but anything in the six yard box should be meat and drink to the keeper. Coventry should do quite well and so not going to get too down. Organising defender (thought Elliott Ward was excellent for them), a striker to complement KO, goalkeeper with presence and some decent crosses would improve us no end.
