Leon Knight going back is fantastic news for us all. He clearly lacked at this level any of the abilities he shows in the lower leagues. He now joins the loan strikers list of crap with Walters and Burton. McCann signing is not too bad i don't think. He has shown he can take a free kick and he is going to get better. Not much of a gamble when he only costs such a small amount. Hopefully sell on is not a big percentage. Mattis would be an horrible signing and i hope Bury keep turning down our bids. He wasn't even good enough for Huddersfield and is now in the bottom league. If he was any good he would have made it by now. Davey being the first choice for the job makes a mockery of the type of candidates that must have applied for the job. No way can Davey with his inexperience, be the best man for a championship team no offence. The official site mentioning the loss of a cup tied Healy on saturday is a joke. He couldn't even get in his experienced position, over the third choice left back we have. Nobody have denied we have two million to spend which is cool. Saw in The Sun today we have two million so if we have lets not waste it on a team of league 1/2 players.
McCann is 26/27. He's not going to get much better and I can;t see us selling him on for much more than we are paying for him.
some good points McCann is actually a left back and i think he will get better! Glad knight has gone, i never wanted him in the first place waste of money if you ask me. As for 2 million i don't really care where the players are signed from most important thing is that they are quality; Kaziem Richards, Nugent, Eastwood, whalley, st ledger, Roger Johnson (cardiff) carlos edwards, berkovic, paul parry, leon cort, neil danns, jay tabb, Patrick Agyemang, Liam Chilvers, Graham Alexander, Campbell-Ryce just to name a few came from lower league clubs! As for this Mattis never seen him play or if i have cannot remember him and can hardly judeg him on a couple of games i have seen him, howver i do know Daveys assistant comes from bury so I'm sure they no more than any of us!?!??!?
but moved to colchester so i would say that is lower than championship!!! most have started higher up but move lower down and then devloped later! Would be turn down billy sharp given the chance? Point is there are some good players in league one and two and like it or not but this is where we are going to have to look to sign players from mainly becasue financially we cannot afford players from prem/championship plus wages!!!
We want quality signings AND keep our best players. Let's hope for some quality signings but NOT at the expense of losing Brian Howard and Bobby Hassell. There's little point in good signings if you're negating it by selling two of your best. We want quality newcomers AND Howard and Hassell to remain. Then maybe we can move things forward from the hole we're in right now.
Didn't we sign Bobby Hassell from Mansfield Town ? I wouldn't mind a couple of proven Championship defenders and a striker , though .
RE: We want quality signings AND keep our best players. quality signings and barnsley football club no longer go together
but he has in the sense step up a level (chamionship) and he is easily one of our better players this season, there is nothing to say league one or two players could not be signed and make an impact!
Yup , I agree mate . I have no problems with us bringing in the players mentioned to fill out our weak squad size . However , I'd prefer us to sign 3 or 4 players , as well , who are proven Championship players and can strengthen the starting eleven by going straight into the first team .
No there isn't, but... the chances are that they will take at least 10 games to get up to speed (see McCann) and by then we are looking even further down the barrel
i would too but i honestly do not believe we have the funds to do so, who have colchester signed proven championship level; i can think of a certain left back they have on loan and would we call him proven?
RE: according to the chelt town statement According to that statement he played mainly at left back in an initial loan spell, returned to West Ham and then signed permanently, by which time he was operating in midfield.
So you see, it IS possible to take a left back and make a central midfielder out of him.
