Axed Bradford boss Colin Todd has warned the club face a bleak future unless they can find some investment.
Todd lost his job at Valley Parade on Monday following a poor run of form saw the club drop down into 16th spot in League One.
Former England international Todd has warned the club are going nowhere unless chairman Julian Rhodes can attract investment to the Yorkshire outfit.
"People think Bradford are still a big club, but they're not. Not anymore," warned Todd.
"They're in the third tier of English football and in terms of financial status they're going nowhere.
"I'm not having a go at Julian, he needs help and fast, but it's been a continual fight to get players in. It's a very tough challenge.
"Where the club's going, I don't know."
Todd revealed he would have considered his position at the club in the summer even if he had not been sacked.
"I would certainly have looked at the whole situation in the summer. The job is a very, very tall order," added Todd.
"Every season you're having to work your backside off to bring players in and you can't get them in until close to the start of the season because the club cannot afford to pay their wages."
Bradford captain David Wetherall has been placed in temporary charge of the first team and Todd has warned him he faces a tough job to improve things.
"They're expecting David to work miracles," noted Todd. "What can he do better than I can do? Nothing.
"Somewhere along the line he wanted to go into management and now he's getting a baptism of fire.
"He'll see what it's all about. There might be some response from the players, there might not be."
Todd also revealed he is keen to return to management, but will take a break before deciding what he does in the future.
"I'd like to think I'll manage again, but it's not that easy. I'll take stock and then have a look and see what happens," concluded Todd.

Yep, as I said before they are skint. Saw them on Boxing day, they were rubbish. Since then they've lost their 3 best players. Relegation looms.
