I quite liked Sam but I'm not two sure whether he was Championship material or not.I recall for example people on here totally slating him for playing and not been good enough. Another couple of points I'd like to raise one is because a manager transfer lists a player it doesn't always mean they've had a fall out I've seen players move on and thank the previous manager for setting the move up for them. One more thing for the folks who kept saying (somewhat two faced in some cases)Togwell is our midfield answer the lad signed for us as a defender.Lets be truthful now in all fairness is there a great deal of difference between Bobby H.and Toggers playing the midfield holding role.Until injuries clear up and clearances granted the only player who could play in that posistion is Butterfield and maybe the club feel the lad is two inexperienced to play in front of such a critical bunch of supporters.

    agreed

I think perhaps we should have made a different choice when signing Colace but maybe in time he could prove to be worth the wait. Only the manager and the directors are truly aware of why we are where we are WRT CM options.

My fear is that Davey sees Hassell as the long term alternative to Anderson de Silva because he's seen Colace and isn't sure he's up to the job.

If thats the case, we're up sh*t creek relying on a player to return from a cruciate knee ligament injury at the same level as he was at before he got it.

Togwell probably isn't the answer to the problem long term, but he's a better long term answer to it than Hassell is.

Togwell was not a solution IMHO

perhaps we ought to be trying for a 3 month loan from a prem club and perhaps Davey is exploring the options as we speak.

Difficult enough to sign players in any case and I suppose we have invested heavily in Da Silva

I just think bringing in one man from Argentina basically to replace Togwell (viewed as not good enough), Johnson (viewed as not good enough), Hassell (a full back) and Anderson (out til end of September) is remarkable business. We should have had an extra permanent signing, or a loan signing, done a month ago in that position.

Hopefully Colace will get his clearance and will be a star, but even if he is, who covers for him?

And what happens if Hassell gets injured after 15 minutes on Saturday and is ruled out for a month or two?

Somewhere, something has gone drastically wrong in our pre-season planning, IMHO.

    Easy to criticise

    perhaps Davey thought

the Johnson situation would improve? (whatever it is) although he hardly got glowing reports before he landed.

Colace would be fit enough, good enough and available?

Perhaps we've missed out on a player or two?

Perhaps we have irons in the fire?

    I dont know, do you??

I heard an interview with him on Radio Humberside tonight. He had nothing but priase for us during his 2 year stay.

Good lad, who I think will turn out to be a good League 1 player.

    I thought Johnson was awful,

lumbering around the pitch, diving into tackles and looking very slow. He got man of the match one game... fck knows how. The fact that he hasn't played creates a myth that he's better than he actually is, bit of the Ronnie Wallwork syndrom if you ask me.

Think / hope this must be right - we are very thin on the ground in this most important area of the team, regardless of the individual merits of the players concerned.

    Thing is BMW

Togwell wasn't Championship standard - for all his positive attributes (tackling, covering the pitch, never say die attitude) his passing was very poor and led to his departure.

The two young Premiership players we should try and sign on 3 months loan without delay are :-

DEFENSIVE MIDFIELD Isiah Osbourne, ASTON VILLA 20 years old

LEFT BACK / LEFT MIDFIELD / LEFT SIDED CENTRE BACK Jonathan Grounds 20 years old (should've signed Marcus Williams from Scunny in the Summer really)

    Now that would be sound

Togwell was not signed as a defender

He played right back about once in an emergency.

    the simple choice is though

that at the moment in the two games before and what is to come, togwell is a better choice than hassell, not davey has got rid of that choice,
