Bit of a unsung hero yesterday I thought. Played well, looked solid and good distribution. Considering he's not got a contract and was practically laughed at on here when he was played in front of Bobby at Peterborough and v Burnley he's done really well. Also interesting that Dagnall/Harewood looks more of a partnership than either of those playing with Davies. Seem to suit each other. Here's hoping the notch a few because we need 'em to with only Danny Rose on bench.
I thought Kennedy was too small to play that roll when we played burnley, where they put a lot of high balls his way and he struggled a little bit. As a consequence I expected to see the same tactic used against him every time he played that role. To be fair he stood up to bechio really well yesterday and got plenty of assistance from mcnulty. His ability on the ball and his distribution are probably what are just keeping him in front of fozzie at the moment.
I don't remember Kennedy being laughed at and I don't remember him playing ahead of Hassell against Burnley either. I remember McNulty and Cranie playing ahead of him but I thought Kennedy was playing on the left of defence.
Well I thought that yesterday was more of a back four, same against Burnley. Stones has always gone far up the pitch in every single game this season at right back so there has been no difference from him in the last two games and when we've needed to defend it's been Stones, Cranie, McNulty, Kennedy with Golbourne playing as an out and out winger. I think a lot has been made of this 'new' formation but in reality we have played with only one winger so many times this season, I haven't really seen much difference apart from the fact that the left winger has been Golbourne instead of someone we more commonly associate as a winger. Just like he did when he first signed for us. Not complaining like, we've played well.
Played well since his recall Keeps things simple and brings a natural balance to the back three. His performances warrant a new contract to the end of the season, in my opinion.
It's a completely different formation mate but the point about using full backs for all our width all season is bang on. Difference is with 3 center halfs it means Kennedy and Cranie can cover 'em and we're not relying on a defensive midfielder to do it all.
My only criticism is that he's not the tallest. He got beaten in the air in the lead up to Leeds hitting the bar.
Good point. I certainly questioned that a few times. Hill brought him in and then ignored him completely like he has done with so many others
I think he was brought in as cover for Golbourne. When he's playing left back then only one can play. Change of system means both can.
He maybe should have played in place of Golbourne in a fair few matches, he had a poor run of form but kennedy didn't get a sniff under hill.
I've always thought he was ok and pretty solid. Plus he's got a bit extra pace which you need when your full back is offering all your width. I don't think Kennedy would be a great wing back.
