Would be nice to know which Championship club it is.

That might give some idea as to where Mr Pope my choose.

Lad at work is a Rotherham fan and he's convinced they're in for him.

If we are in a good position when January comes around..

and Rotherham are not (assuming now its the Millers)... what I mean is that if we are looking a good shout at the top six and Rotherham are looking a very likely relegation outfit, then he may choose us. Of Course the wage and contract length would be a big consideration too for a 29 year old footballer. Also we are saying they have to move within 25 miles of Oakwell (allegedly) maybe Rotherham would not ask that. Port vale (Stoke 0n Trent) is about 90 minutes away from Rotherham and Barnsley. If Mr Pope has a nice house in the Potteries would he be wanting to move at the age of 29. Its not an old age I know... but its approaching the end for a footballer in many cases.

Probably more chance of THE Pope signing, than his lad Tom.

Would certainly keep our links with the church going though wouldn't it - Owen Archdeacon, Charlie Bishop etc. The Pope would be a HELL of an upgrade ;)

The last time he played for them he did very little if I remember right. I seem to remember him scoring a hat trick once but not scoring many more other than that. And this was 2 divisions lower.

We might as well - we've had an Archdeacon and a Bishop - might as well complete the set.
