Tom Williams has recently been on trial with Championship side Watford. Roberto Martinez released the left sided defender/midfielder in May. Williams claimed that he nearly left in January when a 'big club' were interested in signing him. He said: 'We are talking about a massive club and they came in for me during the transfer window in January,' 'I didn`t know that at the time but then they came in for me again in March and I found out about their earlier interest. 'I didn`t know if Swansea were going to offer me a new contract, so I obviously had to think of myself and my family and told the club I wanted to leave. Williams was expected to join his new club, apparently Nottingham Forest, shortly after leaving us but nothing happened. He's still yet to find a new club but he's hoping to earn himself a contract with Watford, who suffered relegation last season from the Premiership. He played 45 minutes of their friendly against Wealdstone in which the Hornets won 4-0. Although I think he was worth keeping on for back-up purposes, his lack of consistency and enthusiasm meant he was never capable of cementing a first team place here at The Liberty in my opinion. I'll be surprised if he gets a contract offer from Watford based on his lack of discipline and lack of defensive qualities.
