Not many fans on here mate.I posted on his 75th birthday Jan 31st without attracting comment. One who did was, so banal it made me puke.We get more than our fair share of morons on here.
I can't believe it - I mean any other club who had a legend like thatin their history would be associating the clubs image very closely with it. He is a legend - pure and simple - he is the dream that every young Barnsley fan wishes he or she could be, the goal scoring hero who eventually gots transferred for a world record fee andwent on to win back to back league titles and score regularly for England. I mean 16 in 19 caps?! Over thirty in his first season for Barnsley (was he seventeen?) - and then to go on to maintain that record scoring more than one every other game for United - including 11 goals in 14Europeangames (!) He fell on just short of 130 goals in five years (26 a season) - that is just awesome consistency. You have to look at the likes of Dennis Law (who avearged 22 goals a season in his united career)or Jimmy Greaves, or Alan Shearer to find the right kind of company that Taylor belonged to. And when you look at Bobby Charlton - you could see how Tommy had his England future ahead of him as a potential World Cup winner (although he would have been 34). Tommy Taylor v Geoff Hurst is no contest - Taylorlooks like a far better target man - taller, stronger, and a more naturalgoal scorer(Geoff Hurst got an average of 13 per season throughhis career at West Ham).
They should name a stand after Tommy Taylor and there should be a statue in town.
Possibly the greatest striker the country ever produced - andprobably the only genuinely world class player Barnsley F.C. ever had.

Agree Its about time we associated success with the club. Naming a stand would be appropriate in Taylor's case.
Good site that mate. You're reight about Tommy Taylor as well.... (Y) their on about putting one up for charlie Williams (statue) ''wtf' .... (dunno) town hall flowere are enough for 'our charlie' .... He loved them.
He went to Raley school After he died his parents presented a trophy to the school. It was given each year to the boy who had given the most to the school Football team, not necessarily the best player,I won it in 1978. Of course it was called Honeywell Comprehensive School then , not Raley
Couldnt agree more, should deffo name a stand after TT carreer tragically cut short, there is a plaque on the rear wall of the enterprise stand, but a bit small and insignificant in relation to the man
mate,
I think most people on here and in Barnsley revere his name, even thoughyou'd have to be in yer sixties to have a memory of him. Don't fall into the same trap as that journo whose piece was put on here. Likefinding a hero and pointing out the shortcomings of thethicko Barnsleymob who can't see the good in him (like I can). Negative **** tabloid journalism that always pulls someone down. It is a blight

don't mean to offend anyone - but it's not like we as a club do a lot to keepthe memory of this great man alive. It's such a shame that all he has is a small plaque on the back of the ponty.
That southern journo didn't have the creativity to step outside of the usual patronising ******** to actually deliver his message properly.
