Since New Year, although I am a Leicester City supporter I have followed Barnsley and enjoyed their success. I watched it on TV last night and thought you all played so well and well deservee to be in the final and hopefully come and join us in the Championship. I am not a young supporter but love football with the rest of you. Having read on your message board the negative commments about Tommy since he has joined you and realising through this board that he is not rated much by most of you it makes me want to speak in his defence. Leicester City and Tommy and several other local players went through a rough ride and we were lucky with a change of management to finish where we did this season. It was a near cert that we would be coming down to league one and it seems like a miracle to escape relegation. We all got so deflated, the atmosphere round the club was terrible and the fans were leaving in their hundreds. It is taking us all time to re-build that confidence both on and off the pitch. The one main reason I have come on this board is to say that last night when Tommy came on be it for only 5 minutes, it was aweful to hear the Barnsley fans booing. O.K. maybe he has not played to his full potential but giv ehim a bit more time before you write him off. He hasn't had many starts and 5 and 10 minutes is not enough time to show your best. The biggest thing I wanted to say is Don't ever boo someone in your own colours. Wearing your shirt a player needs support. Get behind him give him the confidence, not just Tommy but every player in your team. If you get the promotion to the Championship it is hard. Fans and players need to be united. Most of all I wish you all the best for the final. I shall be cheeing you on from Leicester.
Thanks mate and well said... I didn't hear anyone booing though, just huge applause for everyone. Maybe there were a few.
Many thanks Unfortunately your request may fall on many deaf (stupid) ears on here. We are Barnsley after all and demand the finest players at all times. We have exacting standards.
Andy Ritchie's not looking too bad a judge of player at the mo, so I've every faith in Tommy coming good in time.
Good luck for next season, see you at the Walker's !

RE: Thanks mate and well said... You could hear the booing when you watch the TV recording.
I was ashamed, who are these people who boo? What purpose does it serve except destroy the lad's confidence?.
I hope he proves all the doubters wrong.
There'll be some red faces if he heads in the winner at Cardiff

agree with you 100%,i will say this though, wright has done nowt to impress me so far but i refuse to slate him just just yet because if this season has shown us one thing it is that we write player's off far too early, take colgan and hassell for example this time last year they were the crowds whipping boy's and on most people's get shut of list(mine included), this year colgan finished top and hassell second in the run in for the player of the year trophy.give wright a break and f**ks sake have some patience with our player's.
Thanks for that I agree that booing your own players is just plain wrong Also Tommy Wright hasnt impressed much this season but..... last seasons whipping boy was goalkeeper Nick Colgan - he definitely came good with a bit of confidence also last season after half a dozen games Michael Chopra was viewed as useless Lets see next season eh
"it was aweful to hear the Barnsley fans booing" it was Hudders fans booing because they thought we were wasting time e.g. taking time making the subsitution. I was swinging my shirt around my head singing "WE ARE GOING TO CARDIFF" at that stage!
RE: Deffo Huds fans booing Ricco's slow walk, not TW. I am sorry if the booing was for time wasting. I wasn't having a go at anyone just what it sounded like from the TV. As I said it has been hard a t Leicester this season for sure. Just want you all to get behind the lads who play for you. If you play like last we will be seeing you all at The Walkers next season. Come on Barnsley.
Unfortunately, we have a Histroy of Judging Players Unfairly Just ask Nick Colgan & Bobby Hassell - our two most consistent players this season. However, there are plenty of fans who still indulge in this activity - even after seeing someone make only a handful of starts. It may be too late for Tommy, as the boo boys are already circling. Personally, I hope Tommy comes good if only to prove these individuals wrong.
RE: Thanks mate and well said... its very well saying bout he has no confidence but he was on loan at blackppol before us scoring reguly so tht confidence thing at leicester is a bag of(furious)
Well said. My lass is always saying it's terrible the way Reds fans treat the players - she's a Coventry fan and the attitude at their matches seems completely different.
RE: Thanks mate and well said... A bag of what? Apples? Oranges? Liquorice allsorts? Strikers live and die by their confidence in front of goal, and as Tommy hasn't scored many goals, his confidence his low. I'm sure a couple of goals early next season will sort him out.
I can honestly say this season at Leicester has been one of the hardest I can remember in the 40years I have been going down there. Some weeks the play was so aweful that I wanted to be anywhere but at the game. But in football you have to take the ups and downs. We aint all Chelsea and Liverpools and the players are not all Beckhams and Rooneys. But they are human beings and I'm sure the majority want to play their best. We have improved at leicestaer and the fans cheered the lads on and did their part. They never even bothered bbooing Peter Taylor when he came back and believe me he is one hated man at Leicester. They just cheered on their own players and they responded. I just think that you have some good players get behind them all and lets hope you win that gane at Cardiff

Believe me We've had some woeful football at Oakwell over the last few years, up until this season that is
