never had a run in the team here and seems to be an easy target for stick. Give the lad a break. Did people of this board not slag off Chopra only for him to Prove all wrong. Colgan should never have worn the shirt again according to some, player of the year.

Tommy has never been given any sort of run in the team or a settled partner, strikers live on confidence and he never got going. But to those having a pop lay off the season hasnt started, some players need 3-5 games to get going Bruce Dyer used to be like that.

i heard one or two having a shout at him at the boro games and its totaly out of order. He gives his all and deserves better. Think back to Mike Sheron plenty of talent and no desire to do anything for BFC just pick up his wage.

I for one will give Tommy Wright the chance to prove himself one way or another, its a new season and a clean slate.

Agree with what you're saying, but I think where most people are coming from is the fact that he is possibly one of our main strikers for the coming season. While he remains unproven at any level it doesn't breed confidence to know he is 2nd or 3rd choice to fire the goals to keep us in the division.

As a squad player I think he could prove to be a useful assett, but not as a main player.

Don't agree with anyone shouting abuse at him though

I agree completely about giving him a chance and would never shout negative comments towards him at a match, but I will keep my opinion that I don't think he will make it at this level. Hope he proves me wrong next season and he will have my support.

I think most of the crowd on Saturday would have been able to put away at least one of the chances he had to score. I hope he proves me wrong, but seeing him in the team really doesn't inspire much confidence. Then again I really don't think we're going to see that much of him this season as if we don't have enough fit strikers we'll probably play 4-5-1 instead of just throwing on a spare striker to maintain a 4-4-2.

i agree that we should wait to see him get a run in the team.... and yes i am guilty of airing my views about him on here, and i would never say it during a match, we should only slate opposing players never our own! i still stand by the fact that he had so many chances against a poor halifax side and didnt score...most didnt even end up on target...our 3rd choice striker!!!! scary!

    You were weren't you?

I mean you were comparing a good player to Tommy Wright. Is that right?

RE: I hope you weren't comparing Tommy Wright with Michael Chopra...?

i was trying to point out that he has not had enough minutes on the pitch to judge him yet. and i was comparing the barraking he gets to that of chopra. Wright may not be good enough for the championship, but unlike hayes and richards he has played there. is very young and learning.
those are the points i was making why we feel the need to destroy the confidence of our young players is beyond my understaning. Fallon anyone?

Not accusing anyone in particular just pick up on negative comments on here and at games. He is giving is all in a red shirt and has my full support.

In reality I have made my feelings clear about Tommy Wright...

On this board more than probably anybody else. Some would say too much, well Dirk would anyway.

My feelings are that we have not seen anything in his time at the club to warrant the money that we paid for him. Money that should have been spent elsewhere, windass maybe, which at that time could have guaranteed promotion.

I do not think Tommy Wright will ever succeed at Oakwell. That is my honest opinion, although I hope he proves me completely wrong.

He's got a proper blokes name.

I think we should also sign Billy Sharp and somebody called Jack Braithwaite.

    Wright / Chopra / Johnson

If you care to check statistics you'll note that at England Under 19 & 20 level Tommy was chosen to lead the line in the European & World Championships ahead of Chopra & Eddie Johnson. Tommy finished both tournaments as Englands top goalscorer.
Chopra was an over age player & couldn't oust him.
Somebody must rate him highly having seen him play rather than come off the bench

    RE: Tommy Wright- v Chopra

Didn't it take 12 games before Chopra scored a goal for us?

He's gone to Cardiff except it and move on.

He's only consistantly scored goals in League One.

    His nickname...

    Tommy Wrong :pff

It's in the Play Off Final programme, because he doesn't seem to be having much luck here, they other players have nicknamed him, "Tommy Wrong"

I hope he shuts them all up and becomes "Super Sub Tommy Wright Wright Wright" :)
