I have been watching the re-runs of the West Wing on Sky Atlantic. They have just reached the beginning of the last year of Jed Bartlett's second term and all the staff are downbeat, the President is sick and the Republican hold Congress. What can be achieved?

Leo McGarry is brought back in fresh from a heart attack and gives them all a pep talk using American Football as an analogy - he urges them to give their all and to leave nothing out on the pitch. That must be our attitude tomorrow - it would be awful if, as happened with Man City's no show in Madrid, we come away from Wigan regretting what might have been.

If the team and the fans give their all tomorrow and we still miss out then so be it but at least we will go out with heads held high.

Possibly the best thing of its kind ever produced by American television company. Watched it when it was on Channel 4 (or was it 5?) and loved it. Martin Sheen was an excellent President :)

But you're right - the analogy is a good one. I don't mind another season in League One if we give it everything tomorrow. Such a shame we didn't do the same last Saturday though.

This bit right here. Just give your all lads, go for the win and if it's still not enough then at least we can all leave with our heads held high knowing nothing more could be done.
