Let's hope he's better than his Dad, though wasn't he involved in the Watford v Reading goal which never crossed the line?

He gave the stoppage time penalty that cost us 2pts @ Coventry last season, when he should've over ruled his assistant.

Yeah we might as well get blaming the ref out of the way early.

    No Amy...

women have no place in football. :D

Seriously though Oliver's inexperience could have indirectly led to us being relegated last season. He's only 23. Maybe there's an argument for young refs to officiate at L2 and BSConf level for a probationary period, say 3 years, before they are given important games, so that their decision making skills are honed and fewer mistakes are made?

    RE: No Amy...

I am sure L2 and Conference sides consider their games important too.

Oh right sorry... sure he made a big error one game though

    Maybe a different game?

And the Coventry pen when he was extremely weak, hopefully he's stronger now!

    Well...

He just shouldn't have let the assistant over-rule him when he had a much better view!

No, it wasn't him at Coventry

I'm probably setting myself up saying this, but of all the latest breed of wunderkid refs I think Michael Oliver is the only one who's half decent. Last season he reffed us at home to Charlton (0-0) and at West Ham in the Cup.
    </p>

As far as I know he hasn't been involved in any major controversies, and he actually referees using a bit of common sense.

    Really

I've seen no conclusive footage at all.

If in any doubt it should not be given.

The ref saw nowt, the linesman was reported to have said "there was a raised arm"
