Let's hope he's better than his Dad, though wasn't he involved in the Watford v Reading goal which never crossed the line?
He gave the stoppage time penalty that cost us 2pts @ Coventry last season, when he should've over ruled his assistant.
No Amy... women have no place in football. Seriously though Oliver's inexperience could have indirectly led to us being relegated last season. He's only 23. Maybe there's an argument for young refs to officiate at L2 and BSConf level for a probationary period, say 3 years, before they are given important games, so that their decision making skills are honed and fewer mistakes are made?
He reffed us a few weeks back didn't he Preston game wasn't it??? Quick edit: it was against Man City
Oh right sorry... sure he made a big error one game though Maybe a different game? And the Coventry pen when he was extremely weak, hopefully he's stronger now!
though as it turned out he was right to go with the assistant as it was an handball arm raised in air, ball hits it. penalty
No, it wasn't him at Coventry I'm probably setting myself up saying this, but of all the latest breed of wunderkid refs I think Michael Oliver is the only one who's half decent. Last season he reffed us at home to Charlton (0-0) and at West Ham in the Cup.
As far as I know he hasn't been involved in any major controversies, and he actually referees using a bit of common sense.

RE: He reffed us a few weeks back didn't he Yes, he was down for the Citeh game but Jon Moss took it.
Really I've seen no conclusive footage at all. If in any doubt it should not be given. The ref saw nowt, the linesman was reported to have said "there was a raised arm"
