Why does he need to play for them?

If hes on the field they can tell how good he is surely? If hes got their winger in his pocket then hes good enough for their team

Pretty much. And he can always play Robbie Williams in midfield if hes short.

I'm hoping thats just to help him recover from injury

I recken he's our best right back! More pace than Hassell, could mature into a really good player.

He hasn't played in midfield for ages

His main position for the first team has been right back.

    Personally, dont rate him

both him and Wroe no where near good enough for Championship football. Tonge was only ever a stop gap at right back, and I remember more times him being caught out of position and looking daft than I do decent performances. He's 5th or 6th choice in midfield, and he needs games. No harm in loan deal at this stage.

I believe the lad we're bringing in on loan can play anywhere down the right hand side. Our wage bill needs trimming, we've a small squad of half decent players but an obscenely large pile of ***** that needs 'culling'. FACT. ask anyone. even the marketing bod.

agree with that but Tonge isn't in the pile that needs chopping.

I don't believe that the loan for for this new lad and our contribution to his wages is less than Tonge.

    Tonge's natural position is.....

what? cos Im not sure. he's behind Hassell and Austin at right back, and with Togwell, Howard, McCann and Mattis all infront of him for centre midfield, cant see him getting a look in. Fact is, he needs to be playing regular first team football, works both ways, he might do enough to make the manager rethink, maybe not.

We've a large list of first team players all taking a wage, and 9 thousand a week doesnt go very far, simple maths. Do you honestly think our attempt at staying up will be any weaker for Wroe and Tonge going out on loan? And if we do go down, and have to make some harsh decisions, neither would be in a League 1 size roster anyway. Fair dos, there should be others joining in the departure lounge, but I guess its harder to find anyone to take them.

    £9k a week? where's that from?

The point isn't where he is in the pecking order, it's where (based on performances) he should be.

    Who would you drop?

Cant see him getting anywhere near the first team, and if he came off the bench, he hasnt played for so long he'd be so far off the pace, much better he gets some games, then who knows. bringing in a player who will make the first team straight away, hopefully making and instant impact, whilst we see what Tonge can do when he's playing regular, everyones a winner, innit?
