Had to take my dog to be put to sleep He was nearly 16 and he was the best friend I ever had :'( :'( :'(
Sorry to hear that mate. My dog is 13 next week, and i don't think she has much longer. It'll break my 8 year old's heart (and i imagine i'll shed the odd tear s well!!!). I remember when i had my last dog put to sleep (about 20 years ago) and it knocked me for six, for a few weeks. Just remember the good times
Really sorry for your loss - it's always so hard but usually the right thing to do when you get to that point - you'll remember the good times soon and the pain slowly gets less. It's hard but it hurts less after a while I promise Claire
Sorry to hear that it's an awful feeling. from The Big Lils xxxx
RE: thats not good news mucka I feel for you tonight. I am sure your friend is grateful for your courage and compassion, finding the strength is very hard to do. Think of all the years of unconditional love and friendship you have shared.
RE: Yes, sorry to hear that... Difficult thing to have to do.
When I was about 19 I had a dog which I'd had since I was about 8.
He used to walk up to my sisters house to sit with her baby. One Day he arrived with air gun pellets in each eye and had to be put to sleep.
I've never had a dog since.

RE: Yes, sorry to hear that... Terrible m8, my heartfelt sympathies are with you. Your dog is your best friend, might sound stupid, but he/she knew you better than anyone else on this planet, pure unconditional love and companionship - a terrible loss! - i really feel for you.
Had the same thing happen here mate, about 3yrs ago. You have my sympathy. It all started on a late Sunday evening. Our Zak, 15y-o male GSD, lost balance down one side of his body. I foned work and said we were taking him to vets first thing Monday. Went to vets and they said it was an ear infection, affecting his balance. RELIEF!!! Gave him steroid injection, and told us to give him anti-biotic tablets in his food. Tuesday, he was bright eyed, and bushy tailed!! Tablets made one hell of a difference.!!! Wednesday, I got the fone call from a very tearful missus, and I was in Bradford. Our lass foned vets to say he'd had a relapse. She foned me to say she was taking him back to vets. Got the fone call later saying she was going home, minus Zak. She had to go thru the heartache of seeing him put down. Worse thing was vets wantied us to return, FOC, the unused tablets that we paid over £50 for! I dont think I should repeat what our lass came out with!! We've still got our Zak's choker-chain as a memory, of what a smashing dog he was. All the best Madmark. It gets get easier mate, trust me.
It's a horrible thing to have to do mate. But you know it was the right thing and you know he had a good life. One day soonthe shitty feelingwill pass and you'll be able to think of him and smile.
You just dont put things like that on here When times are that bad............the last thing you think about is this message board Family type serious stuff just does NOT belong on here Thats my opinion. But if some feel better for telling people about it - who am I to disagree
Sorry to hear that... That day is on the horizon for our old faithful hound too... Been there 3 times before and every time gets harder.
Sorry about that. You know it's coming and you know it's the right thing to do, but it's still heart breaking when it happens. Sixteen is a good age; You must have done something right for him.
You have my sympathy, we had our Bess put to sleep.... in Feb, I think of her every day, we miss her terribly, in a little time when you think of your dog it will bring a smile to your face, chin up mate.
