    My player comments for tonight.

Davies not much to do, no chance with goal it was a fantastic free kick.
    Wabara adequate,
Nyatanga best of the defenders tonight.
Mawson poor needs dropping for a couple of games, he will come good though.
    Smith same comment as Matson.
Isgrove put in a good shift worked hard could /should have scored a couple.
Pearson hourihane didn't dominate like they should have, steady average performance from both, need to step up.
    Hammill quality.
Jackson lively needs more game time worthy of a place in the starting line up.
New lad raw handful will score a few goals.

Subs winnall will benefit from Hammill being in the side, did ok
    White definitely a tryer

Overall the 442 worked, defence still likely to give away goals, central midfield need to improve and try to dominate as they are capable of doing.

The game was enjoyable and the crowd were supportive.

Disagree with Hourihane Pearson comments, thought they were both pretty good tonight, Pearson has some quality where he can attack and defend, could be come a good box to box player in the future

Still thought we looked powder puff for most of the game and without Hammill's brilliance would have probably lost. We are physically a small, nice team. Too nice. Some decent possession football that goes nowhere, without much cutting edge. Easily muscled off the ball in the final third and no-one to really put their foot in and assert some authority in midfield. Pearson was poor, Smith was dreadful. Toney and Jackson worked hard, as did Isgrove without really threatening too often until the final 10 minutes when we gained in confidence a bit. Hourihane tried to do the organising and shouting, which we desperately needed but I'm far from convinced that we can push up League 1. York were poor, very poor. Let's hope this gives them some much needed confidence and we see even more improvement. I still think we look too young, too small and lack the killer instinct, but there are signs that things may get better, especially if Hammill stays fit and plays like he did tonight. He was the best player on the pitch by miles, going down with cramp 10 minutes into the second half but still better than the rest on one leg.

I agree I just think with the quality they have they should really start to dominate games and stand out more

"Wabara adequate" - agreed, which he just seems to be every game.

Would like to see Bree given a go. Don't think Bench every week is any good for him at this stage of his career and I believe he has the potential to develop into a far better player than Wabara

Not seen them for a few games due to other commitments, but George Smith must have really deteriorated given the number of negative comments I'm seeing on here. Nice to have a new whipping boy though.

Agree with that, both should be good enough to boss a midfield, maybe with Scowen in replace of one of them would be better for a 4-4-2,

Nowts changed with Smithy mate. Smithy like all defenders is taught not to pass forward if there's nowt on. This sez as much about our statues of midfielders and forwards as it does about him. The lack of positive movement as been evident for weeks. Rectify this and players won't look as bad.
