My initial thought when hearing Tony adams name was...... please no, not another unproven manager. Also wondered how PC saw him as an improvement on SD? As a player Tony Adams was a world class international defender with 56caps scoring 5goals, and captained a very successful premiership Arsenal making 504 appearances scoring 32 times. He was an inspirational player, who lead by example and was respeceted by all players/fans involved with football. He also coached by top class managers e.g. Wenger, Robson etc and has worked under Harry Redknapp a Portmouth. As well as short spell in charge of Wycombe and Portsmouth. Simon Davey was a talented midfielder in the lower leagues who's career ended early due to injury. In total he made 273 appearances scoring 43goals for Swansea, Carlisle, PNE & Darlington. Following his retirement from playing he went into coaching. And later managed Barnsley FC. Lets face it Adams has the right credentials to be a top manager in terms of his playing experience and leadership. IMO he cannot be judged by short spell at Wycombe, and did do to badly at Portmouth considering players he lost. He still wouldn't be my favoured choice, but I would be willing to give him a chance (wouldn't mind being Arsenal's farm team)
I agree. Wouldn't be enthralled about him arriving, but he could transfer some of his leadership and defensive abilities onto the pitch, then I'm all for it. Also, Arsenal's feeder team; yes! yes! YES!
Nope, seen absolutely nothing to suggest he could manage a football club Not least a football club that needs a kick up the arse. Listen to his interviews, its like he's on sedatives. He's really not what we need, we need a Paul Jewell type. So just go for Paul Jewell.
RE: Nope, seen absolutely nothing to suggest he could manage a football club I'm firmly in the 'no thanks' camp as well. Nothing he has done in mangement so far indicates that he has what it takes to be a good (or even average) manager. Why should we take a risk? Lets stop taking risky or cheap options and get the right man in. For me this is Paul Jewell.
bobby charlton most goals for england, over 700 games for man utd. played for 1 of the best managers this country has ever had, but did he do a good job when he managed at preston ? NO
