6'5" Australian international not been offered a new deal at Crystal Palace. We ought at least to be enquiring, as central defence is one position we should look to strengthen. I know he's 33 years old, but we could do with some experience and some knowledge of the Championship. 362 games and 34 goals not including last season. 49 full caps for Australia and 7 goals. We ought to enquire. I know he'll probably get a deal elsewhere in Europe, but we should be in there. Any other Aussies going? They tend to clan together. How about Burns coming back as well?
Poppa will head back to aussie (I expect) He has done well in England and he made the world cup.. There is a good league here now, that the overseas aussies will come back to to finish their careers. Like Stan Lazaridis who has gone back to Perth for his last season or two. I watch the scene here with an eye out for the Reds. In the past I have been in touch with the club about players like Brett Emerton, Josip Skoko and Scott Chipperfield. This was when they were younger and looking for an overseas start. I didn't have an 'in' at the club and I am just another anorak. (I sent faxes and offered to follow up - no response) oh yes.... I even contacted Dwight Yorke earlier this year. I tried to intrigue him into thinking about a move to the first div for three months before the WCup (i didn't mention BFC, just said near enough to Manc and promotion-chasing). He didn't bite, just another anorak.. You are right about aussies abroad, they like one or two more aussie mates around to share the experience. Good that, I think. Like Millwall who started Lucas Neal, Tim Cahill, Muscat and others. I wonder what their connection is with oz. I'll be on the phone to Andy Ritchie one day.
not with the wage offers we are competing with. they'll rather go to the new a-league in aust with more money.
We were supposed to be interested in Doriva from Middlesboro but he seems to have signed for a Sydney club for about 2k a week.
