Apparently they don't give the ordinary working class kids the step up they need. Oh the inclusive tories- How many in the shadow cabinet are ex Eton and Cambridge? Hague was only educated in the state system because he couldn't hack boarding school.
What can you say about tories making policies for the benefit of working class people? They'll be announcing tax reductions on flat caps and whippets next. Oh thanks very much.
RE: What can you say about tories making policies for the benefit of working class people? Cameron spending two days as a teacing assistant.... How fecking patronising.
Advanced spin. It's the worst kind of baby kissing politics. Exactly what the hell does he think that a couple of days in one school as a teaching assistant is going to do? And no doubt he'll come out the other end full of platitudes and empty blithe statements trying to agree with everyone.
I fecking hate politicians. There's not one of them that's got the slightest ounce of integrity.

No they aren't They are scrapping plans to build new ones - there is no plan to scrap existing Grammer schools - at least not this week anyway
The answer re:eton and cambridge is - about the same as the actual cabinet Interesting which cabinet has an ex member of the NUM in it, and the one that has someone from Wath Grammer in it. But then not doing the research and making sweeping generalisations based on unfounded prejudices would be too difficult!
There is only one cabinet and then a shawow cabinet, the tories cant scrap anything at the mo as they are not in power
I thought Labour had already done that Holgate and the Girls high School when never the same after they turned Comprehensive.
Hague, the working class 15 pints a night man? Still never forgiven him for that speech at the Tory party conference as a kid. Tory boy!
Let me stop you there a minute What has Cambridge University got to do with privilege? Why are you lumpin it in with a public school such as Eton?
RE: Inverted snobbery Pisses me off - "Eton and Cambridge" as if the two are somehow linked. Its the same but reverse as saying Edward Sheerian and Hatfield YOI. Oh - hang on...
RE: Inverted snobbery But only public school pupils are allowed into Oxbridge That's the rule isn't it ? Cos the mesters in the big house keep us poor workers downtrodden.
Edward Sheerien ? Played them at football a few times. Very pleasant.

RE: Inverted snobbery what proportion of the undergraduates at Oxbridge unis are from state schools ?
Not trying to make a point, just interested,

RE: Inverted snobbery My college at Cambridge was 50/50 state schools and public schools (i went to Royston Comp, for the record). The college I went to had a fellow whose job it was to specifically attract pupils from state schools.
Hague Anyone know what year he started at Wath? I started in 1967 (passed my 11-plus much to my Highgate Junior teacher's surprise) and I'm fairly sure it was still a Grammar School when my mate's younger sister joined us in 1969. I think it went comp the year after that.
I lived in Cambridge from 1978 to 1983 and I can assure you that at that time there were plenty of stupid upper class twits who's daddies paid for them to go there. Of course the majority of students had got the required A levels and passed the entrance exam, but there was still a substantial minority of the "striped blazers and straw boater brigade". The local people some of who I got to know very well hated the students with a vengeance.
