live in a completely different world. Claims for expenses for tennis courts, a moat, swimming pools, ride on lawn mowers. Cameron is sorry now, but he waited to see what the Telegraph would publish didn't he. Swines.
RE: I'm going GREEN - time to give somebody else a chance to fiddle the old expenses gravy train nt Greens are happy to encourage a dictatorship so long as it is dicatating their ideals.
As I said before. Average Labour expenses claim £146,500 Average Tory £138,000 Biggest one of all £187,000 - Labour. Nuff said. and well done geoff ennis for 'only' claiming £109,000
you mean like this dirty barsteward? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZndjuqG_Zuc&feature=related and they've got the cheek to go after benefit cheats. if they sorted this lot, and the old tax avoidance lot out, and these so called non-doms, it's raise the government £255billion a year. pay for a lot of wars that, gordon. or, heaven forbid, schools, teachers nurses and hospitals. or more likely, gold plated troughs and diamond bog roll (would serve them right - ouch) EDIT: must learn to type!!
far be it from me to defend Labour. Both parties are as bad as each other as far as I can see. Perhaps the slight difference in average is due to the fact that on average Labour have more MPs that live aways from London, Conservative members are concentrated in England and the south. I believe those figures includes the cost of paying their staff?
Of the top ten 7 are labour, 2 liberal dems and 1 tory. To be fair and balanced the lib dems are from Shetland and the Hebrides, and the top chap is from Falkirk. Says to me they should stick to their own bloody parliament. However, how it costs someone from Falkirk £80,000 a year more to run an office than someone in Barnsley is beyond me. Whilst the Highlands geysers might spend more on travel surely their staff costs should be less what with all that unemployment in the north and that.
Let's just say... by and large many pink, yellow and blue noses have been well and truly in the trough. Massive reformation needed. Like a scrapping of the current system althogther, to be replaced by a National Government. Not National, not Nationalist.
RE: Let's just say... Haha have I found fellow supporter from the left? You would like a national Government independent of European masters? But surely you must agree that there must be an official opposition?
There should be a halls of residence style system. Why should they benefit from second homes through their job? And if homes are necessary then they should be tied to the job like we had in the Army. Our MP's are worse than criminal in my eyes; they are stealing money through the abuse of rules they put in place. Time for a major overhaul in personnel and system.
Yes, you have... Aye, let's get shut of this pretence of democracy with two parties and them some pressure groups in between that only degenerates into a childish petty arguement that turns people off politics. I'd rather aim to have Europe changed from a beaurcay to a democracy....
I would tend to agree It would cost considerably more, but quite a few Ministers get an official resisdence as part of the job, so why not every MP? Would it be more palatable to spend more, but make sure it wasn't lining any MP's pocket? However, it's not like there arn't a whole pile of Ministries around westminster that couldn't be converted into flats and the ministries moved to say the Dearne Valley to provide employment in areas that have tradtionally supported the Labour party and not seen a return in the last 15 years. But that would be too sensible
An extreemly sensible post. Tied housing would be the first solution but this should be followed up with shared office facilities, secretarial staff etc. This would stop the practice of employing family, friends etc and should in the long term reduce the overall costs. And in this day of advance coomunication technology why should an MP need to run an office in London and one in the constiuancy with secretarial support. Surely this could all be done by a single source in a single location. Perhaps each MP by allocated an office and one Civil Servant in there local constituancy to man this office. Just some thoughts!
RE: I would tend to agree They couldnt shaft the system if this was to happen. They'd resist any attempt to change they second home system. Complete ******* the lot of them and I cant wait for them to come knocking on my door.
