I thought it wasn't coming to South Yorkshire this year. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-30904913 We have Stage 3 (3rd May) http://letour.yorkshire.com/stage-3/map
Suppose to be taking in places that missed out last year but misses out a big city like Hull again. Instead of starting on the friday it would have made more sense to start on the saturday so it could finish on bank holiday monday. The crowds would have been even bigger then. Scarborough seafront is a lovely place for stage 1 to finish though.
Bank holiday Monday would probably push costs up Dreamy and you also have to take into account the cycling calendar.
I did wonder about that so mon-fri workers didn't have to book a day off if it took place over the weekend and a bank holiday. Could well have purposely been started on the friday so places get four busy days rather than three. Be nice to watch up on the hills by Scarborough Cricket Club. Was around there when the London 2012 torch was coming through.
No stages start or finish in South Yorkshire, so the media got the wrong end of the stick and reported it as not coming to South Yorkshire at all. And anyway, when they said South Yorkshire, they really meant Sheffield because that's all they think South Yorkshire is.
why tour DE Yorkshire, the DE part lends itself to the fact that its in france, well this one isn,t so the DE should be dropped for ERR and should be known as the tour ERR Yorkshire...
Ah, ok. Thanks. That said, it would appear that our participation was dependent upon Wakefield agreeing to host the stage too. Apparently, that was in the balance until recently.
What time is the Tour likely to pass through town? We are at home to Rochdale in final game of season with a 12.15 KO. on that day! Whats the access to ground going to be like if Wakefield Road is closed? Has anybody in authority noticed this?
If theres going to be lots of people around could club put some sort of deal on to get them to Oakwell after tour has passed?
Surrounded by ancient villages and historic parkland, Barnsley has grown into a lively shopping and social hub with a range of independent shops a new museum based in the iconic town hall, and of course the famous markets. Sounds good might take a look !!
Great idea. Like what we do for the open day but even better. NFL style tailgate party. Cram out the ponte car park and east stand side with stall after stall of stuff selling everything from clothing, food, drink, different ales, raffles, charities and any other type of business which wants to purchase a spot.
