A heads up for anyone who, like me, has a long journey to home games, it's the Tour de Yorkshire bike races on Saturday and there are road closures in West Yorkshire and Donny. I've had to re-jig my route to leave the A1 at Worksop and go up the A57 to the M1 rather than come off the A1 at Marr, here's the info page for anyone else affected.

If the snow carries on like it has, it'll not happen!!

    Shouldn't be a problem.

When will it be in Barnbrough?

My brother lives in Harlington and I was going to pop in and see him before the match, but it might make more sense to go after.

Thanks for that, the race website doesn't seem to say much about timings.

You're not looking in the right place then.

The race website gives you timings for every stage, both mens' and womens' races. It even offers alternative times based on three different speeds achieved.

Not sure how much more detail they can give.

    Look here:

    http://letour.yorkshire.com/media/100268801/Stage-1-Beverley-to-Settle.jpg

Tells me I can see them passing Nidd (Harrogate) at either 1432, 1440 or 1448. Pretty clear I would have thought :)

I've to get back to work in Donny for 6 o'clock after match on Saturday, would have been cutting it fine under normal circumstances this biking lark going to make it near on impossible, so much so I might have to miss the match now, proper gutted

If the first stage happens today I will be amazed. 10 min journey took me 40 this morning, and that in a 4WD. Huge snowdrifts, ploughs out, loads of cars & lorries abandoned.

If they can climb the Poggio in -10 blizzards Micky, Beverley to Settle should be a breeze. Bit shitty down the Aire Valley from you this morning but cant see it lasting. I did 30 cold shivery miles to Otley, Ilkley, Silsden yesterday for some climbing practice so if a 50yo 16st fat knacker like me can ride, these pro skinny tw@s will piss it.
Unless they call it off for crowd safety

Rode out to Tadcaster to watch it today, even made an appearance on Look North at the start. Daft chuff in orange cycling gear. The organisation is unbelievably slick. Main route into Tadcaster only fully closed off for about 20 mins prior to riders arriving, and reopened immediately after they'd gone through.

Looks like the women's race will be passing about 50 yards from my house around half ten in the morning. Might have to wander round the corner for a quick look before I go to the match.

Don't put yourself out too much.

I went and watched, was good and only place to see it as the TV coverage failed.
