I have a confession to make.

I have imported a kid unto the SROSY (Socialist Republic of South Yorkshire) and

I heard these words today from my stepson who is 19 years old (known him since he was 11)

'What is a Trade Union?' (He currently works in a call centre in the Dearne Valley)

He was doing some work towards an NVQ which he says is equivalent to SOME 'A' levels

Words fail me.... where do I start?

    Is this

    a) my fault
    b) his mum's fault
    c) his school's fault
    d) maggies fault
    e) the way of the world these days

Out of the options I'd go with Maggie. Destruction of the unions such that places such as the call centre where he works don't have union representation any more.

ironic that you're kid now works where unions were once strong now virtually unheard, though the fireman , postmen nearby cause the odd ruffle, the unions are dead, i only stay in mine in case of a personal issue, its all "i'm all right jack" now

I'm in the Musician's Union... now one of the more militant unions funnily...

It is really sad, but I worry more for the health service to be honest.

Nearly all politicians of the last 50 years have let us down badly (with some notable exceptions)... however we have elected the cNuts.
