Traffic Wardens - they'll do anything to issue a ticket!

A driver has been left stunned after returning to his parked car to find yellow lines painted underneath it and a ticket on the windscreen.

When Nasser Khan left his vehicle overnight in Chapel Street, Salford, he was certain he had parked in an unmarked stretch of the road.

So he was left bemused the next morning after discovering he had been handed a ticket for illegal parking.

But workmen had been captured on CCTV crouching underneath the car to paint in the gap, almost melting the tyres on Mr Khan's car. A waiting parking warden then issued the ticket.

The 28-year-old marketing consultant, said: "I thought I was lucky to get the space but I didn't think I would get a ticket because it was a legitimate parking area.

He added: "I took the car to a garage and I was told the tyres were unroadworthy. I could have had a blow-out at any time."

Design engineer Geoff Blackburn watched the incident unfold from a window at DR Design Association, where he works, on Tuesday, September 26.

Mr Blackburn said: "We saw a group of workmen and two traffic wardens surround the car for several minutes.

"One of the workmen came back and crouched under the car to paint the yellow line, and then the traffic warden issued the ticket.

"A friend of mine caught the whole thing on his mobile phone as we thought the driver might need evidence to contest the ticket."

Mr Khan said the parking ticket had since been quashed by Salford City Council.

However, he is demanding that the council reimburses the cost of the damage to his vehicle caused by the work which was carried out by a private contractor.

He said: "The council has agreed that the ticket was processed in error but they are refusing to budge on the tyre damage."

If I was a traffic warden I would just wait on Sheffield Road and give all those ******* that pull up outside the Kebab shops, on yellow lines, a fecking ticket.
The inconciderate Barstewards are more intrested in their belly and not having to walk 10 yards, than the fact they are obstructing Traffic signals. :(( :(( :(( and making it dangerous for other road users

Don't get me started on why having a blue disabled sticker gives people the right to park in areas that are restricted for traffic safety reasons! Never understood that one.

This country is full of lazy b@stards

that refuse to walk anywhere, it's the same outside any minibank, chippy, off licence. Don't get me started about the people that use our street as a carpark from a place round the corner. And the bastartds that block our street off parking up on yellow lines to pick their laundry up, like i said i'd love to fine the lazy bast@rds. It's no wonder everyones getting fatter, nobody wants to walk more than 3 metres.

I blame the council for charging for parking everywhere (they want to attract people to town to shop yet why drive to town and pay to park up when you can get a better selection of shops at Meadowhall and free parking) it's just shunted the problem out. Perfectly good car park round the corner from me, used to be free to park and no problems it was always full during the week, then they charge people to park and instead people park on the surrounding streets whilst they go to work….so if I come home from work a bit earlier I find a bloody 4x4 parked outside my house until 5:30 on the dot when the guy is going home from work. And commercial vehicles parked up over night and at weekends on the street - its not an industrial estate, reported the council van on a number of occasions….don't they still have Smithies Depot where they can keep vehicles?

Then you are a very selfish Idiot. The yellow lines are there for a purpose , not just to make the road look nicer. It is a criminal offence to park so close to the lights, to make sure that traffic flows easily and freely. Not easy when evryone has to swerve round idiots illegally parked. Just cos you can afford to pay the fines , doesnt mean you have to get them , it is not compulsory.

Barnsley is one of the cheaper places to park, try going to Manchester, Leeds or London.

£1.50 for two hours isn’t bad, went to Manchester the other day on one of those pick a ticket up when you arrive and pay on your way out places. Was there under 2 hours and was charged £6.20 and I’ve been charged more in Sheffield.

I think council working can even get a monthly pass for about a 5 sheet. But instead a lot prefer to park outside houses around the town centre.
