It's absolutely discracefull what Virgin are doing. they have stopped all reserve seating, meaning that: a) they can sell as many tickets as they want regardless of train capacity and seat availability. b)there are no reductions available for booking in adavance. I've been down wakey westgate ticket office today, and it would cost me over £72 for a return ticket, returning on the Sunday. Lady in the ticket office said it was very naughty of Virgin to do this, but they do it every time there is a big sports event in Cardiff. Also, no extra trains are being put on, and you will have to que to get ON THE TRAIN. Once the train is full it will pull away regardless of others waiting to get on. So you aren't gaurenteed to get on the train you want to.
RE: Its the price Fair play mate. Can you not get a cheaper ticket to somewhere else and then just get a local day return from wherever that may be?
RE: They do it every bank holiday weekend, so nowt new What about the Barnsley Star Special. £55.00, no stops
RE: They do it every bank holiday weekend, so nowt new Forget I said that - I've just realised you want to come back on the sunday. :$
RE: Train to Cardiff from London We faced the same problem getting from London to Cardiff. Great Western suspended all cheap travel to cardiff. We got round it buy buying cheap day tickets to Newport then day returns from Newport to Cardiff. Actually cost us less than we were expecting to pay originally, and the stupid thing is we are on the same train. BTW any one else from the London area wanting to join the London Tykes there are 25 of us on the 9-45 Paddington to Cardiff. We will be the chaps wearing Barnsley shirts!
RE: Train to Cardiff from London did you get up on Monday I was the only Barnsley fan in the Sports cafe
RE: Train to Cardiff from London Yes mate we made both games. Hired a Mini bus to get us to the games 15 of us. Didn't get back into London until 2-30 Tuesday morning I had a meeting at 0730 so was like death warmed up. The only decent thing about the Sports cafe is the waitress's short skirts!
If we win, you'll be too bad to want a drink on Sunday! If we lose, then you won't really want to drink either!
RE: Train to Cardiff from London city tyke told suggested it to me, it would have been better to watch the game with some more reds fans.
