It's in one of today's Sunday papers that barnsley are to hold 2 days training a week in Manchester at either city or united. What's wrong with our facilities ?

I don't know whether this is related or not.........but..........during the snowy weather we had at the beginning of the year Flicka took the team off to a training camp somewhere.
I thought the Craig Hignett transfer money had been spent wisely on the indoor facilities.........but on the face of it, it seems that Flicka dosen't think they are good enough..........and now it seems that the outdoor stuff is not up to standard either.

I wouldn't question Flicka on this because obviously he is the man who knows how best to get the best from his players

I know Flitcroft isn't keen on the surface of the indoor pitch, reckons it has caused a few injuries.

Our outdoor training pitches feature grass and goal posts - what else do you need? Surely it can't be that different in Manchester.

I suppose we do have a bit of a unique scenario with the training pitches being located smack next to Oakwell - presumably they use the same changing rooms for training as they do on match days. Maybe Flicker wants playing at Oakwell to seem a bit more of an 'event' for the players. At most other clubs the players only ever see their ground on matchdays.

he said before in an interview, he doesn't like all facilities being in same place. Everything is too familiar. I think in a perfect world for flicker we would only use Oakwell for matchdays.

Dint they train on Oakwell all week before the Udders game...cos the training pitches were been dug up and relaid. Maybe there not ready, so a week in Manchester...Bolton Collage as it says on player...then Spain..to give em more time

A collage of Bolton would be quite interesting.

Seems abit strange! Sure there will be decent enoygh facilities in and around barnsley! Can flicker and his staff and maybe a few of his players not be bothered to travel all the way to barnsley every day. Because I know a lot of the lads travel from Manchester every day. Abit unfair on the lads that have moved to barnsley

Well.... Flicker said change of scenary due to the fact they train and play there... Its just basically so they don't see the same things day in day out.. ````

So why have we no problems with the training camp in Spain?

    What's the difference?

I do like the fact that all our facilities are contained in one area but I can see his argument about it all becoming too familiar, maybe the club should sell the land off to property developers and build some new facilities at the other end of town near the M1 for better access?

You can't beat a drive over Woodhead or the M62 on a busy weekday morning!

Depends if your wining or losing, I supposed if your winning every week then familiar is good. If your losing then change is good :)

Isn't the training ground being re-done? One of the conditions.

It'll still be a bit knackered and not ready for 5 days a week just yet. Chill art lads - no conspiracy in everything.

    Maybe the pitches aren't ready.
I don't think people get how bad they got last season. They weren't fit for Athersley Rec or whatever there called.

We should be keeping people off Oakwell and the training pitches.
