Trains from Manchester airport to Barnsley

Has any one done this and what is best way. Manchester airport-Huddersfield-barnsley or through sheffield or Leeds.

 

Do it all the time. Direct train from Man Airport to Huddersfield, then the rattling roller to Tarn. About £30 return.

There's also a direct train to Meadowhall but not as often. Advantage of Huddersfield is that if you don't make your connection there you can go in the Head of Steam until the next train. Or the one after that.

Huddersfield is quicker to the Airport than Shefield; about 50 minutes compared to about 1 hour 20

 

just bought off tp-express for my june jollies, £4.90 airport to sheff, why drive & park at those prices!

 

yeah but the train from Hudders to Tarn takes 3 weeks so a bit pointless

 

usually ok, going to airport i allow 3 hrs so presuming you check beforehand hand of any issues in case they stick a bus service on,
on return airport trains do allow you to board any later trains if there's been a flight delay even on advanced tickets
£43 return inc taxis for mrs n me from front door and back home

 

i did Meadowhall to Airport a few weeks ago - takes about an hour and a quarter but no messing about with changing trains. painless
