On a Sunday?

Not going to risk it myself - they always have maintenance work going on!

    Yes

Going down Saturday from Leeds £30 each on the 8.15 which stops at Donny.

Didn't fancy a late night train journey back, and also wanting a safe travel time i.e. in case of extra time, I thought it best to come back after 8:30pm, so am flying back to Leeds for £55 on Sunday night at 9pm, and have managed to get a Holiday Inn for £12.50 for the Saturday night by cashing in my Priority Club reward points.

Train looks a great option - £30 return on Hull Trains. Kings Cross by 12.50 a good 3 hrs before KO, and last train home at 8pm - sorted!

Now watch Railtrack shaft it with unscheduled maintenance at Grantham!

Shame my course wasn't a couple of weeks earlier

Could have had free transport to the game and then the hotel that evening!

It was the Star wasn't it?

Or one of the radio stations, can't remember which.

And I doubt it, as theres plenty of trains down to London, wasn't as simple a task to get to Cardiff by train.

I wonder if there's any other red fans around the world, that ever stayed in London and therefore have similar near miss stories?

Site Admin, may I suggest a sticky?

It's nowhere near London though, so if we're expanding the theme:

I was in Yorkshire on monday and therefore just missed an opportunity to go to Oakwell on Tuesday and a potential ticket to Wembley.

It was the star, and this year they are putting on buses rather than a train.
