Apparently we’re going to turn bids down right until January 31st, then on the last day with hardly any time whatsoever to buy a replacement we’re going to accept an offer and get the deal done by tea time. Like wise with in coming signings, instead of getting the wing backs/full back cover in we’ve known we’ve needed since September, by this weekend, so we can drop them into the team during a meaningless game, and get them up to speed by the end of the month, like a normal club would, we’re going to wait right until the death just to save a few bob.
Or we are going to do our business quietly and under the radar. If an offer comes in that's too good to turn down, it will be accepted, we'll move on and replace!! Glass half full here!!
You’ve forgot to add that we could actually do all the business within the first few days of transfer day starting but GG bel that wouldn’t be in the tradition of doing our transfer dealing with the sole purpose to piss the good folk of the BBS off
Definitely Moore and Mowatt to NOT be sold hopefully. Ideally I'd like no sales this January, just cover. Final piece of the jigsaw.
if irresistible offers come in for players then we will sell. I just hope we can get suitable replacements perhaps at a lower price than what we may sell for.
Will we get “irresistible offers” any more. The thing about BFC is we don’t need the cash to survive anymore, so maybe this window we can do something really radical and add to the squad to give us the best chance of getting out of Division Three. Just a thought.
We did well to keep our players in the summer and I think we will hold on to our big players once again. Can see some squad players like Jackson and Moncur leaving if we can get suitable replacements though. We will keep Moore and Pinnock- believe that
I'd like to see us keep the 1st team together and have a proper go for promotion. If we don't go up tell the players they can go in the summer if the right offer comes. But lose any of pinnock,Lindsay, mowatt or moore and it will effect our chances of promotion. Be nice to keep the squad together especially as Sunderland could be losing their top scorer this window.
I think the ‘model’ has changed hasn’t it. We surely can’t still be operating under the premise that; if we’re doing well we should a) sell the players that are having an impact, and b) preferably sell them to a team in the same division who we are competing against. I would have thought, and hoped, that model (which we’ve operated for 40 years) could now be consigned to history. Well, we’ll see soon enough.
Exactly. So WTF was DragonTyke talking abart (usual fooking tripe from him?). THINGS HAVE CHANGED. WE HAVE NEW OWNERS!!! Obviously some on here are behind events. If we sell players for next to nowt like we did under Patrick then we haven’t progressed as a club under these new owners. Simple as. I’m expecting NO OUTGOINGS - and maybe one or two incomings. BTW it would be a huge disappointment for the supporters if there were outgoings.
Some can't understand the difference between owners having money and the football club having it, for sure. Budget this year is slightly less than last time we were here under Patrick and were essentially self financing. Granted that could change (doubtful though). The transfer window should certainly give us an indication of their intentions and if they are really only interested in the profits that were made in the last couple of years under Patrick (assuming there is some demand for our players)
Not my understanding. That's not to say we won't be better managed or will generate more money commercially (which I think we will). This idea that these rich owners are going to chuck money at the club has not been the case so far and indeed is contrary to the expectation that they set in their very first meeting.
I wonder what the difference money wise was between selling Bradshaw and buying Woodrow.? Maybe I'm being naive, but if I was Mowatt I'd want to know that they were planning on keeping the team intact or strengthening for promotion before I signed a new contract.
I can't see a collection of billionaire owners buying us just to make the odd million here and there to swell their own coffers, there would be no logic to that.
I know we are again going over old ground here - but. These new owners have already broken the mould of the last owner by ensuring we didn’t lose nearly a full squad of players like we used to after relegation. Plus if reports are right - in the Bradshaw sale / Woodrow purchase - a profit wasn’t made in the sale. I can’t remember like for like happening before. And something that I’ve mentioned on here before - if you and your mate bought a vintage car that needed some attention including problems with the gearbox - then yer not going to park it on the drive and stare at it are you.
