It was promised at the beggining of this season that we would be waiting to get people in after the season had started and voila' a bid is due to tempt CKR, Grant Smith from bristol on trial, and Monday morning we apparently offered hard cash for Williamson from Rotherham. (this was told to me by a Rotherham fan who is devestated at the thought of losing him) Obviously we wont be counting on all of these targets signing, but they certanly said this was going to happen and it has, Despite a start better than any of us had wished for, strengthen now for when the suspensions and injuries kick in and we might just be alright. Fingers crossed Togwell doesnt get injured, 3 games in, and he looks key to the whole success.
Well what they said was "Box Office Players"... I just hope the young uns can keep running their hearts out for the lads...
i think all 3 will be used as back up..if we do get them,ckr..is still only young i belive??? him from bristol cant get in the team at bristol ff and williamson, well ive heard good things about him but i cant see him taking any of the current first teamers out of the 11
RE: "Anyone want to comment on that" If you believe that "They" said that then find us the comments and sources.
Can We sticky this article to get rid of this "box Office" saga once and for all.... http://home.skysports.com/list.aspx...+chase&lid=&channel=worldcup2006&f=rss&clid=4 I quote from the above article... "If someone is 'box office', we're more likely to find the funds than if it is someone who won't excite the fans," 1) Where does that say, I PROMISE we WILL buy box office players. 2) Where does it also state we WILL find the funds. two words in that statement are: IF LIKELY
Grant Smith Just been talking to a Walsall fan. He says Grant Smith looked a really good prospect, only played 3 games for them on loan before getting injured. Played as a defensive midfielder so presumably cover for Togwell? They wanted to buy him but couldn't afford him (or anyone else!). Say's he didn't see enough of him to know whether he's championship level but would definitely hold his own at league one level. Not sure why Bristol want rid - to cash in on him maybe?
RE: Sure i saw an article in the Chronicle... I just want to add though that i think the board have done a fantastic job and AR and the lads are trying their ****** off... but just imagine if we could get a couple of good solid pro's??? and i don't mean one's who just want a quick pay day but someone to bring the young lads on a bit, just for this season maybe... How could this squad be with a season of Championship football behind em... dare we dream...
RE: Grant Smith So he finished the season at relegated Walsall after not being good enough for mid table Bristol City. He's played for football giants Clydebank and Halifax Town. And didn't even get a game when at Wycombe. A journeyman who's already played for 11 clubs and still only 26. Doesn't sound great to me.
I'll say it again mate. With the chances we're creating and the shots on goal we're getting who knows what we could achieve with a couple of real finishers?
A club that's just come up and finishes top third would be in a great position to attract players in the close season.

RE: Grant Smith the club are making leaps and bounds trying to bring people and and your still grumbling!! who do u want for BACK UP?? ronaldinho?
RE: Grant Smith No i thought Healy was backup for Togwell. We don't really need another player in that position. A midfielder from the lower leagues that would be good would be Gary Taylor Fletcher.
how many clubs did redfearn play for before joinging us.... stick someone like gerrard in a poor team, and lets face it, its not going to make all the difference is it. There is a team, you get a poor team. One player does not make that team outstanding. maybe a bit unfair on the lad that one mate
