Does anybody in the game actually see what it brings, its a load of balls, was it sepp blatter thats was bored in his office and came up with a new stupid rule?
Breach of Authority "i have the power to install transfer windows, ill go and do it". "for a laugh" what id dont understand about them is when clubs sign players 2 minutes before the deadline when theyve had 30/31 days to do it, idiots.
well you just put a refreshing new slant on it fer me...and prolly calmed me down an all its sorta like the January sales at the shops innit in a way....suddenly total crap thats been on the shelves ALL year is just what tha's allus wanted...just 'cos it sez SALE on it...all year its looked at and tossed aside then SALE DAY and its suddenly attractive.....in a way the transfer window final day does this too.
RE: well you just put a refreshing new slant on it fer me...and prolly calmed me down an all exactly look at Hull, theyre doing ****, so they start panicking on the final day of the window, then jokingly sign Bridges for 350k, making them worse off. Obviously Warnock hadnt signed a striker for a month so he signed Kazim Richards, cos his name sounds mint.
well I am looking at in another way too yer see.... our lass allus gets sale fever and spends a stack, an its normally crap she buys
its as though he's curbed the madness of SALE day..our lass would be mortified, so really he IS ... a bloody genius.....oh well
WE LOVE YOU GORDON WE DO.. WE LOVE YOU GORDON WE DO.. WE LOVE YOU GORDON WE DO... OH GORDON WE LOVE YOU..... hihihihihihihihi
I don't see how they can be legal under the freedom of movement/employment laws.
Surely they'd be overturned if challenged in the European courts?

not relevant that bit mate.... BOSMAN says it all ie contracts etc... freedom of movement etc the transfer deadlines and all that are surely an illegal restriction of trade and employment (unless the identified player is out of contract then it don't matter).... But if someone is willing to buy and the other is willing to sell...mmm somehow thats like someone saying to Ford... you can't sell cars during december... Only a matter of time before this one is challenged, its a rule thats way out of date
There used to be a thing called Unfair Contracts Act Wherebye you could write what you liked into a contract, get it signed but, if it was deemed an unfair contract then it was not worth paper its written on. Is that still in force, been out the work lark a while....
RE: not relevant that bit mate.... BOSMAN says it all Yes, that's the point I was trying to make. Footballers are no different to the rest of us, they are employees earning a living. The transfer windows surely restrict their legal right to change employer when they choose to do so.
ALL rules are restrictive in some way, How far do you want to go, or are you willing to accept the rules.
RE: ALL rules are restrictive in some way, Yes, you have to have rules and rules can be restrictive - but can you simply impose rules (because these rules were imposed, they haven't been around forever) - that arguably ride roughshod over the law and impose severe restrictions on an employee's right to work where he chooses. It sometimes likes to think it is, but sport is not above the law.
Errr Its only players under contract that are restricted So Anyone out of contract can still start work Once you sign a contract in any industry there are restrictions - often 1 month notice to leave but 3 months is not uncommon. Footballers often sign 2 year contracts - that works 2 ways - the club guarantees to pay them for 2 years and they commit to stay there unless a mutal agreement to change is reached. - Thats not restrictive - pretty good deal for the players if you ask me. The transfer window isnt really challengable on employment law - doesnt make it any less stupid though Just a rule of the competition that doesnt make a lot of sense
As I understood it, the idea of the Transfer Window was to stop the likes of Chelsea going out and buying a whole new team come April, if they felt that they weren't going to win the Premiership with the one they had. Or at least words to that effect.
